I can see the Florida parishes having a mix of 318 and 504 but I don’t see any similarities with Acadiana. It’s certainly got a strong Protestant influence much like the Florida panhandle

You are correct in the sense that the Florida Parishes are not part of Acadiana naturally, even though they are located geographically in south LA. You are wrong in the sense of the Northshore having quite a good number of (not as many as Lafayette or Thibodaux, but quite a good number) Boudreaux's, Bourgeois', Gremillion's, Dupuy's, Landry's, and so on in our school yearbooks. While not native to the Florida Parishes, they have moved here just like the 504s and the 318s. They brought their culture with them. Closer to the lake seems more Catholic, further from the Lake seems more Protestant-----I will give you that. But do not act like 337s haven't moved to the Northshore too like their 504 and 318 counterparts.

My favorite is when people from Baton Rouge or New Orleans talk about how terrible the crime is in Shreveport. Love that.
people from br and Nola don’t talk or think about north Louisiana

The internet isn’t real life

I heard more about Shreveport in 3 years in dfw than I have over a much longer period of time in south Louisiana

I've been to New Orleans less than a dozen times in my life. I've been to Baton Rouge maybe twice that wasn't LSU related. I've lost count of how many times I've been to Dallas.

There is some truth to this but I have to shake my head at the posters that say, "that's not REAL Louisiana", "where does real Louisiana end", "that's south Arkansas", etc when talking about the north then turn around and call a stud football player a traitor for not coming to LSU.

North LA is more different from South Louisiana than life in Moscow is from Lisbon. Those two regions shouldn’t be in the same country, let alone state.

Generally true for most people in N. La, I bet.

Ive been to Houston more than New Orleans, come to think of it. The only place I ever felt "out of place" was in Sorrento, LA.

Deer season will be here soon, corn sacks will be strown along the highways from Texas to Mississippi.

Apparently it's a tradition to just throw the empties in the back of the truck and let nature take care of them.

If it gets brought up, they may mention that north Louisiana sucks, but in general I don't know anyone who sits around Southern LA just thinking or talking about how north LA sucks unless they have to go up there for some reason

Your implication that the opposite happens is north Louisiana is the entire point.

You got a bunch of idiots who’ve never left Washington parish opining on north Louisiana like they know a damn thing

North LA is a hellscape with all of Louisiana’s problems and none of its (extremely few to begin with) advantages.

Probably 90% of active rigs in Louisiana are in Northwest Louisiana due to Haynesville Shale.

By far most untrue and common opinion here. Shreveport is much, much more demographically, and culturally aligned with Mississippi and Alabama, than East Texas. Let's check the demographics of Shreveport vs Tyler

Shreveport:
Black - 58%
White - 38%
Latino - 3%
Asian - 1 or 2%

Tyler:
Black - 23%
White - 48%
Latino - 23%
Asian - 3%

People in the south LA rarely leave.

Then why was New Orleans population 630,000 in 1960, but 370,000 today? I'm in Texas, and know a lot of people that have moved from BR or Nola. Lafayette seems to be the only city that is not losing people in Louisiana.

Crawfish is making its way to San Antonio, with lots of bars having boils. I’m sure it doesn’t compare to south Louisiana though.
Also plenty of Cajun restaurants, or at least a few
