Can you get fresh boiled blue crabs, good boiled shrimp, hoghead cheese, boudin stuffed chickens…

Yes, yes, yes, and yes. crabs are seasonal, like everywhere, but yes you can get gulf shrimp, hoghead cheeses by the pound and stuffed chickens multiple places. Now are you saying that things like ponce define if you are in South La...because that type of stuff is all over the cajun prairie but you arent finding it as often further south or south east. Again, we are talking about food choices. This thread is about lifestyle. And lifestyle damn near identical. How you make your gravy is not a lifestyle indicator.

Exactly.

I knew a couple of the kids, and the producer. Producer ended up dating one of the boys, which was bizarre because she wasnt unattractive. Also am friends with the lumber mill operator they supposedly helped out.

The entire show was a charade. The kids spent as much time in Juneau as they did Hoonah.

Absolutely do.

Producer wanted to use our facility for a commercial (outdoor clothing)

She also dated one of the boys. Which was bizarre.

You’ve been retired and worked at like 3 different places in the last two years

And while you did work, you were a laborer

Both of my parents grew up speaking a different language and living off the rice fields and shrimp boats…IDK, being from fricking Acadiana would be start.

Since Feb, Niles.

See, your pathetic anal retentive life never puts you in touch with exciting people or events, so you assume everyone is the same corporate stooge as you.

North Louisiana is more pretentious than South

My favorite is when people from Baton Rouge or New Orleans talk about how terrible the crime is in Shreveport. Love that.

quote:

Prime example is their hero Karl Malone - Four or more kids out of wedlock that he never recognized until he "HAD TO" and one with a 12 yr old.

But they all slobber all over his balls like he's some type of God and put a statue of him up.

Where do yall come up with this shite

Seems to be really similar if not the same lifestyle as South Louisiana with different dialects. Is the food really that different than Southern neighbors? Fried seafood is still very prevalent. Gumbo and crawfish are very common. Might see less boudin in gas stations.

Yet the WASPy parts of the south would consider south Louisiana inferior as humans and south Louisiana would consider the WASPy parts of the south as culturally inferior. They may vote the same way most of the time, they may like the same sports and drive similar vehicles. But the differences are big enough to them to have strong preferences in places to live and who they choose to associate with.

But they are different when it comes to tolerance of other cultures, culinary traditions, religion, second languages, private vs public school preferences, family traditions, career paths, and the national origin of their descendants. Some of those are VERY big differences (Catholics vs Protestants, French vs Creole vs Anglo). Some of these groups varied greatly in enthusiasm and participation in the Civil War despite both being in Confederate territory.

Just because two people from the same state are both white doesn't mean they have very many things in common. I guess it depends on how generalized you want to be. You can certainly find commonalities on which to base a friendship if you wanted to look for them.

North LA is oil and lumber, and explains why so many dead towns. Unless you grew up in it, outsiders would have a hard time getting used to there being absolutely nothing to do that doesn't involve hunting
