Is the Land Rover LR3 / LR4 possibly a timeless classic SUV?

The model came out around 15 years ago and is no longer in production. But to me the styling still looks modern.

Discovery (predecessor to LR3/4) was way more iconic IMO. Both the LR4 and Discovery were reliability nightmares, but both look way better than the new Discovery crossovers that LR is peddling.

No vehicle can be considered a timeless classic if it's a piece of shite.

No, but this one is.

If it came with Nissan or Toyota engine/transmission I would own it

Yeah, it spends a timeless amount of time at the service department.

Not sure about that one but a friend of mine bought a Range Rover Sport for his wife and it was a piece of crap.

The LR3 is an abomination. The Discovery would absolutely kill if someone else made it

The British generally produce beautiful vehicles. If either the Discovery or LR3/LR4 had decent reliability, they could be iconic.

The early 90s Land Rover Defenders are not particular well-built vehicles, but their looks keep them coveted.

serious clark?

there's about 50,000,000 of those on craigslist for $4,000.

nobody wants that piece of shite.

eta my ex owned one. we got a 'gently owned' that had been 100% serviced at the dealer and meticulously maintained. all the paperwork was included in a little binder when we bought it. IT WAS FLAWLESS. within 1 year we had dropped TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS on it and it left the ex stranded on the interstate twice.

if you haven't owned one of these pieces of shite then you shouldn't be allowed to post on a messageboard about them.

its like the people who don't have kids who like to tell us what we're doing wrong.

Later model LR4’s are not the reliability nightmares people think they are. The supercharged V6 + ZF 8 speed is a solid power train.

My dad had one a little older than that when I was a kid. It was an enormous piece of shite. Every time we towed a trailer it would overheat, constantly had other little issues and he got rid of it after two years of constant stuff going wrong.

Thing was a beast off-road though

my neighbor had one and he was getting ready to play golf one saturday morning and turned it on to cool the inside off. it was idling in his driveway for maybe 20 minutes.

the radiator EXPLODED. literally. he walks out & its smoking and the entire driveway was covered in antifreeze.

it was brand new. the dealership just shook their head & said 'these aren't designed for the heat & humidity of the south'.

You should get one, and if you live in the NOLA area, put Gary in Paretti's service department in your speed dial. GL!

No it is not a timeless classic SUV. It is nothing but a pile of shite. I bought a Disco 2 for a 2nd vehicle to trail ride and take offroad. This thing was so high maintenance and I don't even want to add up how much I spend on this thing. I let my stepson have it and we spent over $1000 for the head gasket issue. Every time I see one of these on the road I wonder how far the owner had to reach into their pockets to keep that piece of shite running and on the road.

I had a 2003 discovery hse. Beautiful vehicle. I bought it with 14k miles on it. Thing was pretty much dead by 36k miles. All service done at dealership. Biggest beautiful piece of shite vehicle ever.
