Nah, those pills are just leading you to continually bring in hyperbole and generally be disingenuous in the conversation..."oh, so if I stop drinking coffee I can afford a home...is that what you're saying!?" No, people are using examples to make the broader point.

I would assume that two college graduates who have been saving for 5 years are also making at least $120k-$180k a year combined, which would be plenty to afford many home in BR not that far from downtown.

As was stated previously, no, you don't get 2,000 sq ft, you don't get in the best neighborhood, you don't get closest to your job, you don't get teh best schools. If it had all those things it would be more expensive and therefore NOT a starter home.

People have gotten a lot smarter about wasting their money on shitty services - for example, people went to DollyWood this year over Disney. People went to Nashville, Atlanta, etc and other places instead of Las Vegas. People went to the panhandle instead of Miami for their beach fix.

People are finally telling woke companies and cities that offer shitty rip off service to frick OFF and it’s glorious to watch.

Of course, but didn’t Trump campaign on lowering grocery prices? How’s that working out?

Mingo, likely intentionally, added the impossible qualifier of being 15-20 minutes from downtown. No where is 15-20 minutes from anywhere in Baton Rouge

There are a ton of nice little houses around Stanford/Perkins/College that are around 1500 sq ft and 15-20 minutes of downtown. They’re just expensive AF

It’s almost like some global event happened right at the end of one term and the beginning of the other

Something that caused Trump to sign a multi-trilion dollar bill and print money like it was going out of style

Something that caused worldwide inflation

Any guesses?

Not sure which is more absurd: putting a tariff on a second hand object manufactured in the 1980s or the idea that this isn't horrible for many small business owners and their employees.

Tariff isn't on the used item.

It's on you importing it.

Keep it under $800 or stop selling Japanese vinyl. Or buy used Japanese vinyl already in the us.

Every time you buy a record overseas, you are hurting American record sellers like yourself. If I bought all my records from overseas, I would have no use for you or your shop in Brooklyn.

Which does have higher crime than Pensacola.

We had 16 straight months of food inflation above 7% in the middle of Biden's term. Food inflation is currently back under 3% and the Fed has said they're targeting 2% inflation YoY. Of course individual food items (chicken, for example) are affected by other events and factors.

Brother, that’s exactly what someone said. Even tried to do the math for us

Well you’d assume wrong. And instead of just assuming you could take 5 seconds to do some research instead of talking out of your arse

You talking about that cold/flu that made y'all want to shut down schools and businesses? I guess there are consequences to that too.

Those are all fine for starter homes. However they’re right on that line of 20 minutes from downtown. So in order to get something affordable as a better than average earner in your mid to late 20s, you have to commute half an hour each way in a mid sized city like BR, which should be on the lower end on cost of living.

That’s my entire point. It, of course, isn’t impossible. Just way shittier than it used to be

I mean, is 20 minutes really that bad? Hell I live in Bossier and work in Bossier and it takes me 20 minutes to get to work. Looking up the stats, in the fastest commute Parish in Louisiana (Lafayette), the average commute is 24.2 minutes. So that's literally less of a commute than the fastest average commute in the state. We're getting really picky if we start counting almost 20 minutes as a hardship on the home buyer.

I agree the process as a whole. But, the commute isn't really a big issue imo.

Your logic here is weird

I live in south downs and what used to be a reasonably priced neighborhood has gone buck wild
