Yeah those three are probably the only schools in real Houston proper I would consider “good”. I imagine Heights High will be pretty damn nice here relatively soon

Stratford is pretty good too

Maybe I have just only been to the nice parts of Dallas. Are the bad parts like Houston?

I'll put Pleasant Gove and Oak Ciff in South Dallas against any ghetto to a fight to the death.

Good news is the ghetto isn't dispersed like many cities (NOLA for instance).

It's where a ton of Monroe, Ruston, and Shreveport folks moved after college. I lived close to North Park, and always hated driving North of 635. Way more traffic up thete.

Is currently going through gentrification but still very hood in some parts.

If you go south enough in Irving, it turns hood FAST.

Wat?

I live in the same area and traffic between downtown and 635 is terrible most days.

The worst part north of 635 is the interchange at Bush.

If you have kids it's hard to beat. Clean, safe, and very nice. To me it's just very generic and sterile. I grew up in the area but moved away because of the people more than anything else.

If you measure the quality of an area by the number of cookie cutter gated communities, then maybe so. Enjoy your HOA.

And enjoy your safe neigborhoods, great schools, and living in an area with a shite ton to do that is always popping up on every best place to live in America.

Enjoy it!!!!

My in-laws live in that area. Their idea of picking up a quick bite to eat to go, is something 20 miles away and 3 toll roads down the road.

A hour commute to work and they still live in a subdividision, no thanks... That's the most bizzare one of all. If I'm driving that far I better not have a neighbor within a half mile of me, nor have an outrageous property tax bill.

The Plano area, nothing but shopping centers with an over priced burger, a which which, some yogurt shop and some clothing store. Once too many of these get built they just expand the next town north, see prosper.

Your in laws are either stupid or you’re exaggerating like crazy. 20 miles puts you damn near Rockwall from my house. And there’s only 3 major tollways so if you’re going on all 3, you’re not going for a quick bite to eat.

You don’t have to live in the suburbs if you work downtown. Plenty of people live and work in the suburbs. The exact area we’re talking about has the corporate HQs for jcpenny, Dr Pepper Snapple, frito lay, Ericsson, Pizza Hut, and now the North American HQ for Toyota all on the same fricking street. That’s a lot of jobs that don’t have an hour commute.

The suburbs have amenities that cater to people living there? Groundbreaking. You can find these in any predominately residential area of almost any city.

Do you know exactly where that occurred?

I remember seeing that...maybe even before I moved to Texas...living in McKinney now I wonder how far it is from where I live.

That does not sound like the area the OP is discussing.

There's more food than you could ever imagine within a 10-20 minute radius just about anywhere in this area.
