Exactly. Its not like its going to be some white Republican.
Its going to be a Democrat. It will always be a Democrat. You would think after 60 years of Democrat rule in Detroit, New Orleans, DC ,etc people would think to themselves "frick. Maybe this isn't working out and we should give someone else a chance."
But no. They won't. It will be the same bullshite. Forever.

Schools, roads, and crime are complete shite. Those are pretty important indicators of quality of life.

so you suggest sticking with the Democrats because things are working out so well in the city?

Isn't that the case for most major metropolitan areas ?

They frick up shite too, but when you've been electing the same people for 60 years and the city is in the absolute shitter...maybe try something else?
Elect a Green Party member. I don't give a shite. As long as its trying something new.

It is, but its also a particular style of Democrat. And all of these cities have sucked for a long, long time.
I'm sure they can find a Dem that will be great. But all I'm saying is, its the same thing over and over again and nothing changes.
I had high hopes for Mitch, even though he was a Landrieu. The police force is absolutely inexcusable.

Not what I'm saying at all. It was just funny the way he said it as if electing a white Republican would fix NOLA. The truth is New Orleans is broken on a systemic level. I'll vote for the fist man or woman that tells me their first fight if elected will be to clean up Sewage and Water Board I'll bus in voters myself.

That isn't even remotely what I said, and I did not mean to imply that. I just said it would not be a white Republican. Ever. Never ever.
It will be a Democrat. Always. And they have proven themselves for 60 years to be not capable of getting the job done, but they will continue to be elected.
This city needs a Rudy in the worst way.

Didn't realize that I would be mistake for a 12 year old 75 pound Indian kid trying to win a spelling bee

its a dump
Yeah nobody likes going to New Orleans except people who are from there. It's so boring. No culture. Nothing to do. Terrible food.

I hear all those lists that name New Orleans as a worldwide city to visit are just gags. They really meant to put in Baton Rouge but you have to give locals in NOLA something to be proud of since they have so very little.

I'm curious as to what kind of dragon's teeth you think a Republican mayor - or any mayor - could sow to make 500 fully trained police officers spring up from the ground.

Back on topic, yes. I signed up for Nextdoor, and crime is literally 95% of what everybody talks about. It's all these 50 year old housewives working themselves up in a lather. Last week they were literally demanding that federal troops be put on the ground in armored cars to protect the streets of Lakeview

My Nextdoor's big scandal in the last few weeks has been a bunch of housewives going after a dad that is employing his teenage sons to cut grass and they are scalping people's lawn down to the dirt. There was a carjacking in Algiers a few days ago where they bumped a lady from behind and when she got out to check the damage they too her car but that's about it.

I think he might've been hinting at having an independent mayor.....with political ties to no party. Someone that uses their brain.
I proposed a solution a week or so ago, but it involves firing a bunch of cops to hire better ones drawn in by higher wages. The fact of the matter is that I don't want any more NOPD officers. I want competent people who care about and actually do their jobs. You could hire 1000 more NOPD officers, and I'd bet the crime would only marginally decrease over the long term
