I know it shouldn’t be but anytime I log on and see someone try to sell something there is this stigma..
I’ve never done it but anytime I see someone doing it I always assume they’re down on their luck.

Selling a car or something valuable? No.

Not as trashy as getting 5 women pregnant at the same time and then holding a joint baby shower

My son does it with the shite I’ve bought him that he doesn’t use anymore. People on there are so dumb they buy it for usually more than I originally paid

He’s 14

I sold a used carry-on suitcase for $30 yesterday. Guess I'm a trashy mf.

Not typically. I've bought and sold a lot of electronics via FBM.

After our 2nd kid got out of the infant stage we wanted to get rid of a lot little kid stuff and we didn't have any friends or family who needed it, she put a lot of things on there. It wasn't about getting money for us, it was just clearing out space in a timely fashion and not just tossing stuff out.

I give my son items I no longer need. He puts them on Marketplace and keeps the proceeds.

Depends on what you're selling.

Selling a boat that's valued at $10,000 for $10,000 - no

Selling a used pair of "sneakers" valued at $23 for $87 - yes

Kids making money off shite you bought him. Should give it back. Or you run risk of him being a shithead.

How else will you know when to cautious at the Prairieville WalMart due to a strange man walking down the same aisle as you so he must have been an international child sex worker kidnapping kingpin. It really happened in Prairieville, baw.

What am I gonna do with a set of golf clubs that he outgrew? I’m just happy it’s out the house. If he doesn’t sell it, I’m throwing it in the garbage

I've sold plenty of stuff that would otherwise go to the street or donate.

I helped a buddy of mine move into his house that he had bought from some old people. They left a dresser for him. This thing was ugly and looked straight out of the 70s. He wanted to put it to the street and I told him he could probably get at least 100$ for this piece and a few Mexicans to come move it for him.

I posted it on FB marketplace for $100 and a local antique shop owner messaged me and said I was getting scammed at that price. The owner did not want the piece but told me it was worth at least $5,000. We were blown away. She gave me a few facebook groups to join and I sold it in one of those to another shop owner from Florida. They rented a van and came and got it the very next day.... for $4,000.... It was some vintage well-known designer dresser.

It's come through awesomely for us in the following situations:

Selling:
1. teenager's room dresser
2. nice buffet table
3. decent sofa
4. two twin beds with night stand

Buying
1. Bedroom set for teenager's room($150 for nice shite from a upper middle class P'ville family)
2. Dog Crate($15 in the Hood of Baton Rouge)

If you're willing to sift through the bots and the lowballers and the ghosters, then it's a pretty effective place to buy and sell.
