I've had plenty of plates pushed back towards me, but my toddler stopped because I took that shite away when they didn't want it. Now they understand consequences a little more and bitch very little if they get what they don't want (ice cream, cookies, etc) and just eat the healthy option instead.

I’d like to point out that most elementary schools aren’t letting kids have EpiPens on their persons.

They’re typically in the school clinic under the supervision of the nurse, so if a kid has an event someone has to go there, get it from the nurse and return to administer it.

It's amazing how many people are allergic to these nuts nowadays.

Is it really that big of an inconvenience to not send your kids to school with peanut butter to help keep someone else’s kid from dying?

Not a single thing in the world can't kill and/or hurt a kid. We are living in a world where saying a man can't get pregnant can trigger a kid to commit suicide, so we are being forced to accommodate to that level of mental illness.

All that stems from people chipping away with constant accommodations to the minority.

Hiding kids from peanuts just make him and everyone else weaker.

Sure. Sure.

ETA Also really suspect of you to use "they" when you have one kid. But not unsurprising for a moderate such as yourself.

I'm living in the moment and I'm sure I'll have more meltdowns and protest, but as of may 28th 2024 my kid doesn't bitch a lot when it comes to food due to my wife and i's parenting. I don't really give a shite if you believe that or not.

Does me having a son or daughter matter in this discussion? I've stated multiple times on other boards what my child is gender wise. But I'm glad it triggered you.

You are absolute moron.

My three old isn’t weak because I keep him away from substances that will kill him.

He’s 3 he just wants to play with toys and shite.

Does there come a time when someone fully understands and needs to take ownership of their food allergies. Yes.

Is it when they are elementary school aged messy little shits? Absolutely not.

Keeping allergens away from children is no different than keeping drugs away from children.

One day it’ll be on them to stay away from it. Today it’s on us.

Very weird hill to die on instead of just using the proper gender and singular form.

Growing up, I never knew or even heard of kids with life-threatening peanut allergies, and I sure as hell didn't know dozens of people with autistic kids.

the advent of social media and the lightning fast spread of minor information sources causes overrepresentation of a problem. Leads to adoption of a mantra by helicopter parents who kids have an "allergy". More general awareness also tend to lead to more clinical diagnosis of an issue. Obviously not saying it isnt a serious problem for some individuals, or that there may be an increase in prevalence, but i do think its overrepresented.

Sounds like if something happens and can't be reached in time the liability/negligence is on the school for making it so hard. Not a sammich a kid is eating across the cafeteria.

Most conservatives who don’t understand science fail to realize these types of allergies are fatal.

My nephew had a severe reaction at school because someone ate peanuts at their desk the previous period.

They started allowing it our the school our kid goes to. They just make the kids with allergies sit at another table if someone is eating it. For awhile it was the other way around.

Are you of the opinion that there’s nothing to be liable for by allowing 7 year olds to run around school with needles and medication?

This comparison is what is truly moronic as a whole in this conversation. Drugs does damage to the majority, not a all minority. We can't burden the majority to accommodate the minority. And yes shielding kids from it just being across the cafeteria makes them weaker as their immune systems probably can't improve enough to it.

Keep pushing your over dramatic helicopter parenting, wanting to ruin basic life for everyone else Karen.

The cafeteria in my school serves an Uncrustable with peanut butter. But at the day care it was soy nut butter.
