Seems like a whiter version of Central. I'm sure it's fine. I would go where ever the better long-term opportunities are for you.
I'm not sure what big employers exist in the Jackson metro area. I know the state jobs over there don't pay very well.

Is this something new?
And MS is horrible.
Pass.

I have heard Madison is more liberal than other parts of Mississippi. Is this true?
Here's the deal, Madison has plenty of wealthy transplants from up north and the east coast that are either RINOs or closet democrats. Yes, the city is largely republican voting, but is not Bible Belt conservative like Brandon or Clinton because it's mainly a different socioeconomic class. Madison has a lower middle class area, but most of it is upper middle class to estate wealth types.
Madison is kinda stagnant in it's growth, but Gluckstadt (just north) is starting to take off. They have an annual German beer fest there that's been around for a while.

Towards Oak Grove, West Hattiesburg
Take Jackson St. by Shadow Ridge. That takes you to 4th st. Go east on 4th until you get to Westover, and then hit 59 back to Gandy. That way you skip the traffic and all the lights.
Thats how I do it anyway. frick 98

I have lived in Madison for the past 15 years or so and it the nicest town I have ever lived within. Several folks live in Madison that post on this board. The best thing for you would be to take a few hours one day to come up and look the town over. One of the best thing about Madison is desirable school systems….no need for private schools here!
Just post any questions here and I will check back.

I will look into this, thanks. I’ve been in Petal for a little over four years now, but never looked at a different route.

Highland park, river oaks, and maybe even west lake and the memorial villages are nicer than anywhere in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, or Arkansas.

Having lived in both towns, yes Madison is an upgrade. Jackson is awful, but Madison/Gluckstadt area is nice.

I’ve been in the Madison/Gluckstadt area since 2018. Born and raised in Louisiana. Lived on the East coast for 10 years. Then moved here to Madison.
There’s a lot of truth in this thread. It’s a very nice town. It’s not liberal. Not even close.
I would much rather be here than P-ville.
Having said that, it is a weird place to live socially. Plenty of pretentious a-holes that have a super inflated view of themselves. But also a lot of regular old folks that are good people.
One thing the wife and I have noticed is that after being here 4 years, our best friends that we do the most with and trust the most are not from the area by birth/family. We’ve basically found others like us that are transplants into the area. It can be a struggle if you’re an outsider looking to get into the ‘Madison Mafia’ so to say.

I live in Prairieville and go to Madison for work all the time. Madison is a nicer area overall than Prairieville. Both areas have good public schools for Miss and La. I would rather live in Madison quite honestly if it wasn't for family in the area
