Is Madison, MS an upgrade from Prairieville?

My company offered a promotion today with a decent salary increase plus a bonus structure that doubles my current percentage. Bad thing is that it would require me living in the Jackson area. I’ve always heard Madison is nice but I haven’t been there. Would I be upgrading?

A few pros I can think of are no state income tax along with (likely) lower home and auto insurance costs. My kids aren’t school age yet so I also figured that now would be a good time to make a move like that.

Nice area as long as you stay East of the interstate and away from Jackson.

Madison is nice and has pretty good schools. Its very boring. It’s also dangerously close to the shite hole to the South.

I’d live there over Prairieville.

It's Mississippi and NOT much around

But

Madison has tremendous leadership and is a very nice area. I'd do it.

Sounds better than flooding, meth labs, and nothing to do.

Madison is great town. I grew up there. I’ll say your biggest concern being a home owner in Madison is that whole town is built on yazoo red clay so nearly every single home has foundation issues. Just be mindful of that when looking and ask about it.

Well hopefully they have tornado sirens out there then.

There is state income tax. Property taxes are not unreasonable.
Madison is nice and growing rapidly.
Can also live in Germantown.
I’ve not been to Prairieville in a long time, but my guess is Madison is nicer.

This is a no brainier. Madison is great and is not far if grandparents or whatever want to visit the kids.

Do it

I’ve always thought that Madison, Hattiesburg, Olive Branch and Ocean Springs are the most desirable places to live in MS.

Chicken farms and meth labs?

Have you ever been there? It’s a whole lot nicer than you are describing.

Lived there for a few years post college and my wife’s family is from there. Clean town, low crime affordable housing, good restaurants but not really much to do. They are putting a top golf up around there
