Having a LinkedIn is a necessary evil if you're in the corporate world. Recruiters use it and it is helpful when researching potential new jobs.

Actively participating in the feed/etc. on LinkedIn is a clear sign of a try-hard with a fake job title.

It's helpful to me in that it is a better version of a business card. Updated details on their employment, and if there is someone I want to target for hiring or just talk shop, its pretty easy to see if they have relevant experience.

I just ignore the social media-ness aspects of it.

Yes LinkedIn is almost all tryhards. Can't look at it without getting pissed off

I know I’m late on this. Look up Padraic Flynn and his activities. He calls out all the influencers.
