I once went to an interview and the lady in charge said she couldn't find anything online about me. I responded, "Isn't that what this interview is for?" Didn't get that job.

I guess LinkedIn is a social media account. So I guess I have "1".

So I've got the same thing on interviews. I had one recruiter text me my Great Great Grandfather's death certificate with the word's "crazy the things you can find online".

This is within the last 2months.

Edt: Sorry just read the text from the recruiter again. He replied with "a lot of info out there"

No -- there is even a label for it: "digital disconnection." Refers to quitting or reducing use of digital media, especially social media.

Facebook is the most popular target. Most people don't quit ALL social media. A lot of people leaving Facebook though. Maybe not quitting altogether, but logging off and not using it.

I’ve never had a Facebook, Instagram, or twitter or anything else. I’m 42 tho. Never felt like I needed it then again I’m rare in the sense Ive always felt having all my business out there was more harmful than helpful.

ITT: People who don't realize that message boards are social media

I am dying laughing at the posters in this thread with, 10,000 to near 40,000 posts saying they have no social media accounts.

Yeah it's too much. Making fun of people for wanting validation on social media while....seeking validation from people on social media.

I have FB and Twitter. FB is money for staying in touch with family and friends since I move every couple years with the Army. Twitter is good because you can select who you follow, I mostly just follow news sources like Reuters and such and then a shite ton of NASCAR related accounts.

Got rid of Facebook and Twitter. Going to get rid of Instagram and Snapchat sometime soon.

I hate them. And I hate the people that run them.

I'm surprised by how many people are calling TD social media on here. Technically it could fall under the definition because it's sharing content, but it's pretty obvious what people are referring to when they say social media. I've been on message boards since I was a kid and not one person called it social media back then.

To me there's a distinct difference between a mostly anonymous platform like TD and things like Facebook.

I'm not sure who is more annoying

the people that are constantly on social media or the people who constantly tell you that they don't have social media and that they are better for it?

I think I'll just go with both being retarded

I have a Facebook page for the sole purpose of saving my kids pictures as they grow.

If I didn’t do that, i wouldn’t delete it immediately. It has zero value for me outside of their pics.

I have LinkedIn and I'm about to delete that one. No other accounts on any platforms. Never have, never will.

Because the term didn't exist in the mainstream then.

Message boards are very similar to AIM, which is similar to FB. What drives this place drives FB too.
