My family has an entire obstacle course competition every year

I would swap the positions of Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
It makes sense to the 3 day weekend with the first BBQ of the summer season in May, instead of adding yet another day off in November.
However,
I then get to attend large gatherings and celebrations where people wish me "Happy Memorial Day" on a bright sunny day in May, even though I did not die in the Navy.
Meanwhile, on Nov. 11th in celebration of my service, I get a free appetizer sitting by myself at an Applebees at the dawn of winter.
Put Veterans day in May, it's more celebratory in nature and we can all gather and cheer our service members.
Then, in November we can all raise a glass to those who have fallen.

People in the Carolinas? We fry the turkey outside. Stay out in the back drink beers play football etc.
Also TG is associated with football. No football on that day is no bueno

I'm not eating Thanksgiving gumbo in August.
Or move February in between July and August, it's usually cool and would be a nice break during the summer.

Yeah I don’t know where you work, but I promise you the corporation I work for doesn’t shutdown after Thanksgiving.
