This is basically what I wear now. Used to wear jeans and a polo shirt and finally said frick it. I’m gonna be comfy as possible if it’s more than a 2 hr flight. Way easier to go thru security as well.

Our society is getting sloppy and we need to shame these people. Adults are wearing pajamas to go out in public and they should be looked down upon

And then airlines decided they didn't give a shite about passengers or their comfort. And passengers responded accordingly.
This has little or nothing to do with it. People dress like shite going to church or going to court (and not just the criminal defendants).

I wear a hoodie and some athletic pants (not sweatpants) and slip on tennis shoes to fly. Airlines and the TSA have made flying miserable and uncomfortable so I try to be as comfortable as possible. But I do draw the line at pajamas and sandals which I do see a lot of especially on early flights.
This ain’t 1965. You don’t wear a suit and ride in the lap of luxury with hot stewardesses serving you dirty martinis.
Nowadays flying is basically riding a Greyhound bus with wings.

This sounds like a sick burn till you think about what millenials and zoomers worry about.
Like being able to afford a house and having a decent job while not being crushed by crippling debt?

Take some pride in your appearance while out in public.
Looks like a flying walmarks anymore.

I do agree with this. It is the way it is so there isn't anything I can do about it, but what people where does have an impact on behavior.
Teachers for example. It seems like teachers today dress more like the students and I think that plays a factor to some degree controlling the class room. Teachers should dress more professional and show some authority.
There are just certain things that we need to reel back in.

I usually wear joggers and look significantly less sloppy than most
proper fitting and clean clothes with normal colors/patterns are all you need to look better than the majority.

never seen a lawyer not in suit.
Jury duty is basically like going to the airport but without the beer, i dress even worse for Jury Duty than i would at the airport because it is 99% sitting around with a book or playing on your phone.

Imagine thinking how you dress is special while you fly commercial
It's not even about dressing "special" while flying, it's about being presentable while in public anywhere. Some people dress as if they have no self respect

We've lost the ability to shame people. It is prevalent when I travel to the UK. As pro 2A I am I do think it plays into this

Seems to be another American problem. I didn't notice people tooling around Schiphol airport in pajamas last month.

THe only time my kid dresses nice to fly is when she is going nonrev with United. They make anyone that is flying for free cuz of parent being a pilot dress nice, otherwise she is in sweats. Who wants to travel in coach in nice clothes?

Nothing wrong with dressing comfortably for a flight, boomer. The airlines make more and more of a dreadful experience every passing year, so might as well be comfortable.
Don't throw me in with that boomer bunch. I'm thrilled to wear some comfy clothes on a flight and not heels and dress clothes like 30 years ago.
Also, to those saying we look like we just rolled out of bed...If my flight is at 6:30 AM, I did just roll out of bed.
