If people insist on wearing sleepwear out in public then it should be respectable sleepwear. They should wear formal pyjamas made of silk with a formal robe also made of silk. Don't forget the leather slippers. Scooby Do and My Little Mermaid pyjamas are not acceptable in public settings. Ughs and fuzzy pink slippers made like Bigfoot are gauche.

My wife does this and it annoys me too, then whenever we get where we are going she can’t go straight anywhere bc she’s “got to get ready”.

You could have gotten ready this morning like a grown up

Not at all but the “flying used to be a privilege” part made me think he was talking about when people would wear suits on a plane. So that’s why I said it. I’d still rather wear sweats than jeans if I’m sitting over 2 hrs.

That would annoy me because I usually like to check in, go put up luggage and then hit the floor running... Usually wanting to go get something to eat. When you have to wait on someone to get ready, etc, etc I lose the momentum.

You may run into a former co worker, potential business client, potential employer, etc. Do you really want to present yourself like a teenager who can’t wake up before 9am?

I also drink at 7am at the airport. Who gives a shite?! I wouldn’t want to work with a stuck up a-hole that worries about what someone wears to the airport anyways.

If companies insist on treating people like cattle, cramming them in like sardines and herding them around without a lot of comfort then I can understand why folks don’t dress up anymore to fly.

You’re harkening back to a time when airplanes were more comfortable and a luxury. People dressed to meet the experience IMO.

That’s because today’s young generation is a group of entitled, dumbass, ungrateful little pricks.

When I used to fly as a kid, my parents always told my sister and me to look “presentable” on a flight. I still hold myself to that standard today, whether if it’s for work or play.

Get your own plane if you don't want to have to see the public

Correct. There is a reason society places value on presenting oneself respectably in public.

Looking like a slob exudes an attitude of laziness and apathy. If you are too lazy to do something small and simple like put on some decent clothes before going out in public, then it means you're probably too lazy to do bigger and more important things.

"Raggh, frick you boomer! I'm not lazy!"

OK tiger, if you say so. Your appearance says the opposite. Actions speak louder than words.

Belt, shoes and outerwear, my guy.

And, even though you can get TSA Pre/Global Return, if you fly out of a smaller airport, there is one security line, so you're back to doing all that.

Ergo, sweatpants, sleep pants and either slip on shoes or flip flops are the order of the day. I don't like it, but I understand it.

Get more comfortable jeans. All of my jeans/khakis have 2% elastane in them and are essentially as comfortable as sweats, but don't look like shite
