I use full synthetic too, so I feel like I'm paying about 30% more than if I just did it myself.

Do you know how little profit there is in an oil change. I honestly would rather not do them. My shop charges $69/hour for labor an oil change if you bring your own filter and oil takes up 15 minutes of time and we charge way less than the going hourly rate. Oil changes are not worth it at all from a financial perspective but you do them bc customers come back for bigger things

I'll pay 20 more dollars to not do it myself. Same as I'll pay 10 dollars and not have to wash my car myself. Same as I'll pay someone $100 to wax/detail my vehicle for me. I'll do work on my vehicle if it's absolutely absurd for me to pay someone to do it, but I definitely don't get any self satisfaction from doing the work myself. So if I can afford it, I pay someone. I hate wasting my Saturday morning doing chores.

I don't think the savings are that good but I just prefer to know it's being done correctly and I also use the opportunity to check other maintenance areas

Back in the day when I did my own oil changes I brought the used oil back to the parts store or WalMart.

From a pure bank account cost standpoint? Yes.
Having the whole thing done in 5-10 minute while I sit in my car complete with adding air to the tires, replacing filters, checking the battery, and having a receipt for warranty purposes? No.

For me, it is really not that much cheaper and it is more of a piece of mind. The one time I let the dealer do it, they torqued the oil drain plug so hard that I had to take it in to get it off the next time I tried changing it.
