YES! I know a guy who turned himself in for bank robbery.
This is from Baton Rouge
So, this guy used to be a regular at a job I worked at. He would come by, spend about 15-20 bucks every 2-3 days no big deal. He never seemed bright and gave the impression of being strung out. He rode a bike everywhere, and never in a million years would I have suspected him of robbing banks. I believe if he could get away with it then it's easy.

Banks value the lives of workers instead of the drop in the bucket money the robber took which will probably be returned when the dumbass fricks up anyway.
Haha. No, banks value that the money is federally insured and don't want employees/customers to sue after a robbery.

I would say yes. Some dude in Metairie last week robbed a bank on his bike...like his bicycle bike and they never found him.

I could get away with it...but I am smarter than most

Heard about a local guy in Houston today that police are searching for called the Cowboy Bandit who's already got 3 bank robberies under his belt.
Post your phone number and I'll put you in touch with him.

You can rob a bank through the drive thru. I'm serious - that is the policy at many places. Most places won't put the dye bag if you tell them you don't want it either.
Getting away with it after the fact is the difficult part. Assuming robbing a bank in the first place is stupid, in 2016, robbing a bank while armed is incredibly dumb. The weapon doesn't help and just adds to your sentence, by a lot.

frick a bank. The easiest way to make bank being a criminal is in the armored car business. Don't even need an armored car.
There was a guy years ago who lived in Memphis he went to Dallas and Houston. He staked out the pickups of the armored vehicle at grocery and other retail stores.
He would show up in uniform five minutes before their scheduled pickup and walk out with the cash. The idiot couldn't stand not getting recognition or he would be a multi millionaire today.

One dumb security guard and a bunch of nasty nicotine-wrinkled bitches working the counter = profit.

This actually happened at my place of employment. The guy was smart about it too. Came the Monday after Mother's Dat (biggest weekend of the year) and rolled out with our cash deposit. He showed up in a brinks shirt with a fake ID tag and everything. He ended up getting away with almost 40 grand. No one ever caught him.

He had a couple/few million when the FBI caught him. If his ego wasn't taking over his common sense he would be living on his tropical island right now instead of being in prison. Smart guy up to a point of being an absolute idiot.

It is very easy to rob a bank, but it's hard to get away with it - like others have said.
Within minutes of a bank robbery, other branches (even competitors) are notified to help prevent them from getting hit. Apparently most bank robbers, if the robbery went smooth, are very likely to hit another bank. Which is pretty funny.
I've personally seen 2-3 people walk in that I was pretty sure who were going to rob us leave. You just have that feeling how they are acting. Employees are told always to look up and greet people who walk in the door. If everyone is looking at them, most likely they will leave. They want in and out as quietly as possible.

I saw statistics about 20 years ago. the bank robber has to do about 4 robberies before they are caught, but repeat offenders eventually get caught.
so yes, its easy to do one, but they get caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

If the robber is caught it's straight time. No good time is allowed, so the robber has to due the entire sentence in a Federal Prison which is usually around 10 years. If they use or pretend to have a gun and are a felon, they'll get an additional 3-5 years.
It's not worth the $20 grand, but these idiots are immune to making good decisions.

Assuming your guy did get several million from his brinks scam how would he be able to do anything with the money? If he wanted to go overseas he couldn't deposit it or carry bags of cash with him. He couldn't put it in a bank here with no way to show where it came from.

goes to New Iberia and takes a shrimper to Rio. Brazil only has extradition for kidnapping.

The easiest way to rob a bank is with an ink pen not a gun.

Pretty easy to rob most places. Not easy to not get caught.
