Is horse racing trashy?

I know it's the Sport of Kings, and these beautiful animals (no intent of beastiality) cost millions of dollars, but I use to work as a Para Mutual, and it just seemed 90% of the fans were just plain trash.
If you have ever seen the movie "Let It Ride", the characters in that movie are a perfect example.

I went to the Sam Houston Race Track last weekend, watched some races and then Kenny Wayne Shepherd played. Didn't seem trashy to me. The old town Spring crawfish festival thing I went to last Sunday was pure trash. At least 3 people walking around with pit bulls in the middle of kids.

I just hang with the Hispanics at their back yard quarter horse racing tracks. Feels less trashy.

If you had any idea of how much money is spent on horse racing you’d know the sport itself isn’t trashy.
You canmake a strong argument that the people spending that money are trashy tho. Not all, but many.
