It sounds like some BS and just a reason for women to complain

What do you think is not real about it? It's basically a set of symptoms that occur together and is still being researched. The symptoms are real.

No.

It's a waste basket diagnosis to appease Karens.

‘invisible illnesses’
they are often misdiagnosed and scoffed at especially when the patient is a woman.
there are about a zillion-million studies on this if you care enough to educate yourself.

Look at what's used to treat it, and that'll tell you quite a bit.

The women I have known who have this were either very depressed or very overweight - once either of those things were properly treated - the fibromyalgia went away as well. I’m not saying it’s necessarily totally fake, but maybe more of a symptom to another problem.

No I’m not a doctor and yes I know that’s anecdotal.

Yes it’s real

But I believe less than half of the people who claim they have it.

If all other tests are negative, the ladies are diagnosed with “fibromyalgia” so the doc doesn’t look stupid and clueless. Then, they’re given antidepressants. It’s a snake-oil diagnosis.

It's not real.

It's a spiritual sickness, which makes sense, since it's mainly women who suffer from it.

There's a reason that the vast (and I mean over 85%) of the "victims" of this are pre-menopausal or immediate post menopausal women.

I think it is. I have a co-worker who uses it as an excuse to take days off from work and not get stuff done on time.

No, when you are fat and unhappy things hurt... there are no blood markers to confirm the diagnosis...it is not a rheumatologic disease, it is a psychiatric illness. Same as interstitial cystitis, chronic fatigue, IBS, many others. We don’t always feel good but some people focus on that and think it can be fixed
