The problem with this board, is they think that people who go to church are supposed to be squeaky clean, which goes against Jesus' main goal, which was to help people full of sin.
Does that say more about the church or the people you hang around? Not trying to disparage you, just saying that any church will be filled with people of all sorts and any place that takes well defined stands on anything is bound to have hypocrites in its midst.
FTR, I have no clue what HPC is like, I live in and attend a church in Lafayette. I do get frustrated when it appears that a pastor is the richest guy in the congregation by far but without personal context I cannot determine what I think of a pastor or the church he pastors in general.

Yes, and?
You could finish the teaching.... ..so the actual point of what you quoted / paraphrased could be made or understood...
...which of course ultimately has nothing to do with owning a big house or being rich.

Then by your logic, 80% of St. Aloyisius would be going to Hell and I know some great people that are members of that Church.
Those of you bashing HPC should worry about yourselves and let others do what they want. HPC is not a cult. When I attended, I was free to leave at any time. They gave me an opportunity to be part of group that did great things in the community, cared about their congregation, and gave 100's of opportunities to get involved with the Church IF ONE CHOOSES TOO.
Also, what's the difference in the 'reverse ATM's' or paying online? Both are paying electronically with debit cards. I hear no backlash about other churches allowing members to tithe online.

His in-laws (founding members) are still with HPC though.
I know them well and highly respect them. I've never been to HPC but would like to visit one day.
Mud and the masterpiece is a good book I'd recommend reading.

Is everyone who attends the church crazy? If they believe of some big guy in the sky with superpowers, then absolutely yes.

When I go to church, I can't get past the fact that I'm just listening to some frickin' guy. Do you ever think of that shite when you go in there? That's just some dude. And people are like, 'No! That's a special guy.' No it isn't! It isn't. No, he didn't levitate down from the ceiling with this white light around him. Why would you listen to another human being tell you where you're gonna go when you die? It's just like: 'Dude, have you ever been dead? No. Great. So wouldn't it be safe to assume that you wouldn't have the slightest frickin' idea what you're talking about? Yeah, you're making it up. You're making the shite up. You're not fooling me with the robes and the candles, speakin' in old English, 'He saideth unto you-eth'. Shut the frick up, you don't talk like that. You're just some guy, your names Jerry, you play soccer, you got your arse kicked in gym class, and now you're doin' this.'-Bill Burr

These HPC threads are the worst.
Does HPC seem a little nutty? IMO, yeah kinda, but that's a far cry from some of the condemnations you see here by some. Most of those posters don't even have a specific gripe about HPC and are just antichrist/secularists looking to disparage anything spiritual, like this a-hole:
What a valuable fricking opinion.

I attended HPC for about a year with my ex and I can honestly say I got more out of their services than any 'organized' religion service that I've ever attended.
The fact that you couldn't find God in the Catholic Church says more about you than it does the Church. He's there, you just couldn't see it. By the way you're not supposed to get anything out of it. You're there to give thanks and praise God for all the grace he has already bestowed upon you.

They are all racist too. You should bring your race baiting antics to HPC. Go get 'em!
