In the conservative diverse areas of the country English is barely hanging on. In the liberal homogeneous ultra progressive areas of the country English is squarely king.

I have to actively look for Spanish in order to keep my skills (relatively) sharp.

That's the question. Where do you go to get away or get to the culture that you had growing up that included respect and manners as well as English.

Honestly, we should make NAFTA like the EU

Access to two oceans and more deep water ports than all other countries combined? More navigable rivers than all other countries combined? More farmable land than all other countries combined? A more skilled and adaptable workforce than all other countries combined (wait that's people). More energy producing components than all other countries combined? (redeemed myself)
Correct on all points. Our geographic advantages and natural resources are huge drivers behind our status as a superpower. The idea that all of us are just that special is an absurdity that shouldn't be taken seriously.

swear every where I go all I hear is Spanish. Whether it's at the grocery store, Home Depot, Walmart or pharmacies it's all around me. The sad part is that it's only going to get worse if sleepy Joe gets reelected.
It’s called regional influence. 50 years ago everyone here spoke French.

shite, have you listened to half the so-called "English speakers" on social media, the news, tv, etc.? Have you seen most of them attempt to type/write? Language is devolving at a rapid pace in this country.

Living in the NYC area, the school kids learn English pretty quickly in part because of the schools having a lot of experience at English as a second language, but mostly because kids of many languages only have one way to talk to other kids. Peer pressure is a powerful force.
It funny to see a little kid 6 years old, translating for their grand parents in a grocery store.

Probably not now that Democrats/Republicans have opened the borders to every peasant from Central and South America. American traditions such as sports and holiday events have been going away for sometime now. Espanol is the new language of the US.
