Is Denham Springs ghetto now? They're throwing stuff at cars that drive by.

So.. I live in Central and decided to go to Home Depot to get some materials for a project. While I'm there, some meth'd out chick asks me for money. Two dues were smoking in the entrance, and then a lady was yelling at an employee about some trivial shite. That's all kind of normal for Denham Springs, I guess but they may be taking it to the next level.

On the way back I see a bunch of people at the entrance of a neighborhood and this kid in the group throws a hard chunk of dirt at my truck as I drive by.

At this point I'm in disbelief because there's adults around and they all kinda scattered.

I turn around and go up there and a little further up the street its just women and children (who were right there when it happened). They're like "so what?" I didn't see the kid anymore but the trashiness level was a bit shocking.

I drive through North Baton Rouge every day to and from work and never have these issues. Note to self: go to the Lowes on Millerville instead.

Shouldve gotten out, made the kid eat the dirt and then beat the shite out of any offended/inspired parents.

So go get another hard chunk of dirt and throw it at their car. When they ask you what the frick, you respond the same way. "So what?"

Denham Springs used to be “the wall” for God’s country.

Now it’s the welcoming parade.

I had no way of knowing how involved they were or if they knew the kid. They said his name was Ryan but they could have made that up just to get angry man to leave.

Also, I'm not interested in getting an assault charge or potentially getting my arse kicked over something that didn't even do damage to my property. Like I said, I am just kind of amazed at how trashy these parents are.

I used to work with this dumb arse from DS. All he did was talk about fishing & Rush Limbaugh.. And I can still hear his stupid fricking voice when someone asked him where he was from (even people from other states.. Instead of saying "baton rouge" because its somewhere they are more familiar with than DS, he would say "God's country"

That dude was a fricking idiot.

I'm from Central. We always went to Zachary when we wanted to hit up bigger stores that Central doesn't have. But I grew up off Blackwater/Gurney, so that's an easy shot.

My grandparents lived off of Blackwater not too far from your neighborhood. We always went to Baker but it was a bit different in the 80s. We lived in Tanglewood and later Morgan Place and went to BR for just about everything that Central didn't have.

Same. Central needs to get rid of whoever approved those newer apartments and any neighborhoods with small lots. You can get that in Baton Rouge, Watson, Denham Springs.

What people liked about Central when it thrived were established neighborhoods with trees and big lots. Space between houses. Carports not facing the front. Real bricks, etc.

I was previously against telling people what they can do with their own property but at this point I would support a requirement for all new lots to be at least 1/3rd of an acre if not more.

Quality over quantity. Stop growing so much. My kids attend classes in a temporary building, for frick's sake.

I assume he was just giving some character development for his story.

I lived in Central from 1978-1997 and 2004-2005. It certainly is much more developed that when I was a kid but I'm still out there a reasonable amount and I don't see many lower end developments being thrown up.

It seems like most of the new neighborhoods are more in the upper middle class range.
