Idk if it is or not, but it shoudln't be. There are far more relevant life skills that could be taught in its place.

i for one think it's at least needed for a unique signature. It's art in a way.

Who had to use one of these growing up?

I remember these, but I don't remember what they were for.

So signing your name isn’t necessary or important when you grow up. Let’s teach the third graders how to file taxes instead. Good call.

my teachers made me use them all thru elementary. I had horrible handwriting and they didn't do shite. Still do.

Only alternative that should be taught in schools. It may be a private school exclusive though.

I remember when I was in third grade (1976), our class was taught multiplication tables, cursive writing and alphabetical order of words. Had P.E , recess and an annual field day where we competed against other classes in games, running skills and Tug-Of-War. We also had the ability to earn points for good classroom conduct. During that time, we had the pledge of allegiance and silent time.

Who signs their name legibly, in perfect cursive? Never seen that before. When I sign my name I literally just scribble my initials

I learned cursive in third grade and I'm glad I did.

Still write in cursive to this day.

It's not completely necessary but it definitely looks more professional when writing letters or thank-you notes.

This. I’m screwed if I ever have to claim fraudulent signatures because mine is different every time

I guess I’m old fashion but in my lower school days we used the foam cylinder grips.
