Well that's their nature and it will never change. It continues through college and adult hood. I want to see the legislation that can fix bitchy girls and women.

It's nothing like it used to be. I've had to talk to my kids because the school is trying to convince the whole lot that any perceived slight is "bullying." Hell, my 5th grader has been accused of it for using simple internet memes.
Bullying happens, but like many terms these days it's overused and damn near rendered useless.

This is what I was getting at earlier in the thread. Our definition of bullying has become so big and far-reaching that it encompasses every interaction or perceived slight against another person.
Of course I don't think people should be attacking each other in the halls but I also don't think that a kid saying, "I don't like your shirt today" is bullying. My children are being taught at school that if you don't invite everyone in the class to parties at your home, it could be perceived as bullying. This Is what I'm lashing against.

Some people are bad at taking teasing. Some kids are isolated and have difficulty making friends and any teasing is devastating. And probably, in my personal experience at least, far less commonly, some kids are legitimately tormented. Nowadays it's just harder to get away from because of social media.
All the situations probably get thrown together. I guess it's part of the "zero tolerance" type policies which get used a lot in schools. "Zero tolerance" seems to frequently mean zero common sense, but I think the idea is that people don't want to let a potentially big problem slip through the cracks.
You let something slip by thinking that it's no big deal, and it ends up blowing up in your face. So they use the zero tolerance type policies, and they end up punishing things that aren't worth punishing, but they also try to reduce the possibility of serious incidents as much as possible. The two variables go hand in hand I think.

School is where many kids learn to deal with social issues. I have a hard time with "zero tolerance" policies.
Kids have bad days like adults. A one time incidence isn't being a "bully." Bullying is something that happens repeatedly. The old adage "don't sweat the small stuff" should apply here, I think you do kids a disservice by not allowing them to work out the little things and run to the authorities every time they feel challenged.
