They've been pushing this for years. I don't know when or why it started. I don't know why they started ADN programs if they were going to be reviled.

Because hospitals are going for Magnet, and are compensated for those with BSN. The ADN programs in Texas and Louisiana are already being phased out. CDC and WHO are already recommending BSN only by 2020. Its happening, CRNA has gone PhD. and NP is expected to be follow suite.

Is this the final stage of your descent into Betahood?

Def get your RN license. Many LVNs are being phased out. Now most hospitals want RNs and BSNs here in houston anyway. I have a friend that does night shift at a county hospital and makes about $49 an hour. She does pretty well for herself.

I know a charge nurse, she works the 20 hour shift on Saturday and Sunday and is off Monday- Friday and clears 120k. She's a sexy nurse smoke show too. I don't know what a charge nurse is, btw- but I had to verify her income recently.

Like I said "business" of Nurse Education. I have worked in many magnet or applying for magnet hospitals.

The pressure applied for education is asinine. Hand HR your BSN paperwork. "Whatcha gonna do next?"

I always answer them with "get my CEN."

This is like the nursing version of plant operators.

I made 100k last year, but I worked 84 hours a week and haven't been home since 2014.

Charge nurse is basically assistant nurse manager.
Typically a $2-5 raise.
Shift differentials can add another 7-10 bucks for weekends and nights.

I am an AD RN. The OP will hear shite their career about needing to get a BSN. It's all bullshite. Get one if you want one. The major hospitals got into bed with the business of nurse education.

Why do so many specialty programs require a BSN?

Again, my dad works 3 12s dayshift and is paid 6 figures for it. He has no other degrees besides his RN. He also has a PRN job that he does 2-3 days a week and gets $50/hr for. Just because your wife isn't doing it doesn't mean no one else is.

Well of course you can but not with a basic RN job.

My wife has a BSN and makes about 80 but like I said she's a patient care liaison, not a floor nurse. Floor nurse at her hospital makes $23 an hour.

What do you define as a basic RN job?

That's a straight out of school rate.

My wife has been an RN for 12 years. She makes decent pay as a PRN. Better pay as PRN than full time because we don't need benefits.

In about 5 years I am retiring for good and we will travel in our 5th wheel yo travel nursing assignments and she will get paid very well to work 3 days a week while I fish.

I'm not going to say exactly what he does, but he just works in a specific department and is responsible for a certain number of patients each shift.

Your implication that plain old RNs can't make 6 figures without working crazy extra shifts or nights/weekends is wrong.
