friends moved there a year ago from Houston. They love it. Bought a new build house very near to Springdale CC - can drive their golf cart to the club. She's a doc and he can work from home. They love the outdoors so the hiking, biking is a big deal for them

does arkansas even have a ski resort? are there snowmobile trails? what lakes are good for ice fishing?
Are these the only requirements for a real winter?
I mean, pretty sure Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa get real winters but aren't known for those things.

I own land that borders the federal land and is within a 150 yards of the river. The Walton’s bought up about 6000 acres around the river. And for whatever reason are trying to get the federal land deeded a national preserve.

and yeah, *maybe* they aren't known for those things, but you can do them in those places in the winter. unlike arkansas.

It’s a really scenic state in many places and obviously, a short drive.

Truly world class museum in Chrystal Bridges. People come in fairly large numbers from all over the world to see it. It is definitely worth it.
World Class Mountain Biking trails. And Bentonville is the home of the US National Mountain biking team.
world class Razorback Greenway cycling
Do you even fish bro? Some of the largest trout in the world hang here. Both the Norfork and the Little Red held the world's largest brown trout record in the past 30 years or so.
a Thriving economy.
minimal crime.
highly rated private and public schools.
Hidden gem is not a stretch.
Often in top 10 of best places to live by US News and World Report.
Other fun stuff: walton Art Center. Theater squared, Top Golf, the Momentary, Razorback football games
Decent for a weekend trip? Sure. Great to live in? Absolutely.

I am so spoiled having grown up in both New Orleans and in Acadiana that I should not be so harsh on the rest of the world

Bring a life jacket and waders if you want to ice fish in Kansas or Nebraska.
You admittedly haven't experienced a real winter since you were a child, let the people who deal with sub zero temps decided this.

Ok, so, if it's 5 degrees in places that have ski resorts and ice fishing, it's "real" winter, but if it's 5 degrees elsewhere, it's not. Got it.
*grabs bullhorn
"Alright.... everybody listen up! You need to take your long underwear, coats, jackets and all that and PUT IT AWAY! This is NOT real winter, because there's no ice fishing or skiing in Arkansas. Tell the duck hunters and deer hunters there's no need for all those extra layers."
"Grab your swim suits and Hawaiian shirts, and LET'S GET READY TO LUAU!"

Are you trying to argue that the Midwest has skiing so the winters are better?

Your assertion would be true if the Midwest had skiing

Fayetteville averages about a half a foot of snow per year. that is simply not "winter".
