This is literally impossible to answer without knowing your field or your experience.
Do you manage people? Then quite possibly.
Do you cut grass? Then no.

Ive recently been looking around and a number of jobs require some sort of post graduate degree. CPA, MBA, law, PH.D plus experience. they don't care which, they just want someone who can show those extra skills.

In terms of learning it basically goes back to the Good Will Hunting quote about spending 100k on an education you could've gotten for $1.50 in late charges at the library. This is based on my experience with colleagues who have an MBA.
The value seems to come from networking if you already are interested in and know about business.

Like EVERY SINGLE QUESTION about a degree... It depends on what you want from it that determines it's worth.

The knowledge gained from an MBA isn't really that helpful, hard to find elsewhere, or useful. There are 3 ways, however, that an MBA can be valuable for you:
1. Your job will pay for you to get one. Education is always worth it when you're not paying for it.
2. Your employer promises you a promotion if you get one. Assuming it's a necessary step in your career track, it could be worthwhile to move up the chain.
3. Connections with classmates who go on to be more successful than you. Those successful classmates may end up being in the position to give you a job or be potential clients for your business.

I don't have one but if you can get into a top program then I say do it. The connections alone are probably worth it.

You cannot apply to certain positions without having a MBA.
Nowadays, with multiple MBA programs being offered (online, night programs, traditional, etc), you are obviously seeing more and more people having them.
If you want the position or desired salary, you gotta have the paper....

If you didn't get into an elite MBA program you're wasting your money.

Bill Gates does not have one.

The university really does matter, imo. You look at a top university like Michigan and it's easy to see why it's held in such high regard. I know they have a brand new facility, but it goes deeper than that. They have a culture where they truly believe in what they do.
If you want to see a good indicator of a school's culture, you look at the alumni donation dollars they pull in. They give back to the university because they believe in it. They see it as an institution. It's a great thing to see, imo.
If you can get into a school like that, you better freaking take it.
