I am strongly considering going back to college (online) to get my Bachelor's degree. I can't really decide what I want to major in though, this has always been a problem for me. I do have an Associate's Degree in General Studies, so I have something to work with. My question for you guys (and especially those of you in positions where you hire people), how much of a resume' builder is a Bachelor's in General Studies? Does it make me any more attractive as a job candidate than the next guy or will I be pretty much at the bottom of the totem pole? I'm about to be 32 years old, so I need to figure out what I want to do with my life at this point. And if not General Studies, what majors would y'all recommend to someone who is undecided about what he wants to do?

First figure out what you want to be when you grow up, then look at the educational requirements for such, but don’t just get a degree and hope it looks good on your resume

Depends on your profession. I had an employee that i encouraged to finish a general studies degree just so he could get past corporate HR to find a better job. Project management / IT related field.

That would be a gigantic waste of money for a 32 year old (or anyone for that matter) unless you’re a trust fund kid and don’t GAF

Go to trade school and be an electrician

You will quickly be a $70000 millionaire with an F250 and bass boat

And to be clear, he just needed to finish the degree. Any degree. Because a lot of jobs require a degree especially in bigger companies

Do that before you spend another penny on a useless "higher" education. Hell, a degree in education or psychology would have more value than "general studies".

Yeah either do trade school or a BS communications or humanities degree. Either would be better than general studies

No; narrow down what you want to do, as degree in that field (if specific like engineering, education, accounting, etc) would help. But some degrees (mainly general studies) are nearly pointless other than to say ‘i have a degree’

Also, Probably want to find a job at a company with tuition reimbursement. Don’t pay for that yourself

Not a terrible strategy and could save a ton of money
