I hate the response of "No problem" to "Thank you", especially if you are a service employee who I'm paying. I don't care if what I'm paying you for is a "problem" for you. I'm just thanking you for doing it, though, and have come to expect "You're welcome" in response.

For the record, I don't mind the "thank you" in response from a service employee. "No problem" just fricking sucks.

I don't mind it either. It's just pretty damn silly.
"Thank you," "you're welcome," has been the staple. Everyone is conditioned to it.
Telling someone you're welcome after they bust their arse for you for hours is weird.

Why would that rustle people? I typically say "sure thing", but I also say "not a problem" a lot, too.
