Where are the safest places in the US to take a car to 200 mph? Obviously out west where no one lives and cops don’t bother patrolling, but are there any good spots from the East Coast to a couple hundred miles West of the Mississippi? I want to go 200+ in 2020.

Basin Bridge

But real answer I55 between Memphis and Jackson is pretty deserted

If you can average 200 mph you could drive NY to Cali on a single tank of gas

A track.

Cheap to do so and a hell of a lot safer.

Safest place is the salt flats out west. Don't be a dumbass and kill someone.

How is the road? There is a highway that loops 20 miles south of Nashville off of 40 that is deserted, but the road construction is so bad where the asphalt meets concrete where it passes over surface streets that you nearly catch air at 110+.

This sounds like that video where the girl can’t figure out how far you will go in an hour at 60 mph.

Track, airstrip, mile racing event, or dry lake.

One of the lesser-known laws of physics dictates that driving at higher speeds causes you to reach your destination earlier, at which point you turn the car off and use zero gas, making it a net gain in efficiency. The faster you go the greater this effect is amplified. At 216 mph, gas is actually created.

Need a cage and a helmet if you're gonna go 200.

Lots of cars sold today are capable of 200. Not one of 'em has a cage (carbon fiber tubs aren't as safe as a cage, don't believe the hype).

I’d hope so too. I’d only do it on a straight stretch with no points of entry for a couple miles and drive it from the opposite direction first to confirm no cars were on the road. I’d only be risking my own life and I have plenty life insurance.

It's crazy when you see someone like Ed Bolian say he has never exceeded 200mph knowing the cars he has owned and had access to. Along with what his background is.

Realize what a feat it is to reach that number in a car.

The Texas Mile at Victoria, TX is coming up. That should satisfy your need for speed.
