Oh I can. I like less murder, rape and home invasions. So I chose to stay away. Enjoy your piss infested streets and horse and buggy rides!

Looks like a converted double to me. Not sure why they kept the two doors in the front of the house.

Probably because the historical society made them. The contractor probably was not allowed to alter the facade of the house.

Houses are selling like crazy in the area. Lots of people coming in with cash money buying up homes. I'll be priced out the city in the next 5 years.

people are paying crazy crazy prices for anything uptown.
People are buying in the ghetto and then renovating. Meanwhile you can still grab a nice house in Algiers or Gentilly for cheap.

Luckily for me, I'll only be here for the next 3 years

Prices aren't all that terrible though, 450k for a 2BR 2 BA down Coliseum is not bad.

Extremely high home prices and no real free education option.

Ain't that the truth. I've been looking at buying lately and I can't afford jack. Houses on my street are going for $300k+, and they aren't anything special. The neighbors in my double moved out recently and my landlord went up 40% on rent, and got it filled within a couple days. This was even after my next door neighbors on the other side got tied up and robbed in broad daylight. Gonna suck when my lease is up.

Yes, NOLA is that hot. This home is between Magazine St and Tchoupitoulas, a great location. My grandparents lived at 1220 Second St and last I checked that house was sold for over $1million.

My sister and her husband have done well around there.

As soon as the property taxes catch up, they can run all the dregs out of that area.

New Orleans is dying for an actual thriving suburb

I grew up in Gentile Woods way back in the 1950's to the early 1970's. I pasted thru there last Friday. The second time after Katrina. What a dump now even more after Katrina. There are very few nice homes that were rebuilt. Now blight has taken over a once very nice area.

Housing market is insane right now in New Orleans. My landlord just sold the rental we were living in. The house was on the market for 8 days with an asking price of $425k. I don't know what the final Purchase Agreement amount was for, but it was all cash.

So glad my rent renews on a monthly basis at the same terms that I signed on, after my year is up.

While looking for a house in New Orleans a few weeks ago, we saw many converted doubles in very nice areas for under $300k. We bought 2-1/2 blocks off S Carrollton. Moving in a few weeks. Can't wait to get back to that beautiful city
