CIA loves opium as much as the Military Industrial Complex loves oil. Sounds like the area is ripe for a regime change and extended occupation if you know what I mean.

99% of the opium grown in Afghanistan is sold in Russia and Iran, which is why we encouraged it to begin with. So I don’t see them doing much exporting here but just supply themselves and their buddies in Russia

Opium is used to make heroin.. The article states 90% of the world's illegal opium comes from Afghanistan.
