Grandpas Poot needs a new A/V team. That is embarrassing.

The officer doing a solid job by not letting the defense twist his testimony.
As someone who knows nothing about the case and the evidence in trial is the only thing I'm basing my opinion off of...
This officer has only given the lay of the land of the scene of the crime and the prosecution still has a long way to get to 'he did it beyond a reasonable doubt'... but they still have a long way to go so let's see how they get there
Quite frankly the only thing that's caught my attention was potentially exculpatory fresh tire tracks in the mud were not tended to & they didn't make an effort to preserve them
Also... it took 20 minutes for the officers to arrive on scene to a murder call while running code... I know I'd be all cried out by the time they arrived and probably every possibility as to what could've led to it would've run through my head in those 20 minutes

One of the deputies is now testifying

Long story, but the gist of it is he was embezzling money from his law firm/stealing from clients for quite some time. His 19 year old alcoholic son got into a boat crash while hammered and killed a girl. During the fallout from that his financial crimes were about to be exposed so he was trapped. Rumored his wife may have caught on and was looking to divorce him. He also claimed to have had a severe opioid addiction at the time. So he thought the best idea was to kill his wife and son.

Jesus Christ
Going from made man famous mega lawyer in your state to the point where you’re pointing a shotgun at your son’s head is an unimaginable journey

All of those reasons. He is also set to go to trial for his financial crimes. One of those also involved the “accidental” death of his housekeeper at his home, where he defrauded the housekeepers’ surviving family and pocketed millions in Insurance proceeds.
There was also a fake/ botched assassination attempt mixed in there, that he apparently orchestrated…. So he was spiraling out of control.
And now, at this crime scene there was supposedly evidence collected that has led investigators to re-open a prior case involving the death of a local teenager from 2015.

The plus is that even if he is found not guilty in this case, he will still be in jail for the financial crimes.

But why after those 20 minutes after seeing the bodies and taking their pulses, would you repeatedly ask the officer if they were dead?

Defense is trying so hard to blame LE about the evidence being compromised on scene.

Confirm his suspicions?
Either way... would probably be inconsequential to me... people grieve differently and it doesn't help put a gun (or 2 guns in this case) in his hand and pulling the trigger(s)
ETA: but like I said before... these officers seem to just be laying out the crime scene and the prosecution is saving the better evidence for while they're putting out the actual story of the incident to the jury
There's still lots to come from the prosecution and I'm ready to hear it

This is expected to be a 3 week long trial... so the prosecution putting on "boring" testimony 1st might be a good tactic b/c jurors probably won't remember much from these opening days 3 weeks from now

Agree. This is the appetizer. Prosecutor is setting the scene. I think he did a great job with his questions to the witnesses and his presentation was good. Unlike the defense, he didn’t babble and randomly jump all over the place. However, I think the defense did a good job questioning the way evidence was preserved. I think he stretched a little too much at times trying to shift blame on LE handling the crime scene. Prosecution hasn’t really dived in any evidence but the defense has already gone on the offensive. It will be interesting to watch. It might be bad to say but I want to see the body cam footage. I know they won’t because it’s graphical but maybe they will release an edited version one day.

Any gruesome stuff will remain under seal per court order

Watching these trials... esp the Rekieta & crew trial coverage streams... is really getting me jaded to questions about a suspect's reactions in those moments right after
Before I would look at it with an adversarial eye to the suspect... now I'm like we all handle shock & grief differently let's move on please
B/c I've watched enough trials now to see the prosecutor will make your reaction in the immediate aftermath the 'wrong' reaction to the jury 100% of the time

Why do some women believe that the "Wet poodle" look is acceptable to leave the confines of their house trailers?

Guessing this guy will hang himself when this is all said and done.

As bloody as that scene was, and with no idea (ahem) of when the crime was committed, wouldn't AM have hightailed it back to the house there and locked himself safely behind a door until the police arrived to protect him from the still at large murder(s)?

Defense gonna hammer the shite out of this dude about the tire tracks
He's seemingly confirming there's an unknown set of tire tracks right by the bodies which wasn't investigated further... and it was this guy's job to preserve them
To me... with no knowledge of the situation at all... it's a giant red flag in the investigation and thus the prosecution's case right now

I noticed when Alex was talking to the police he had already tried to steer the narrative to someone out to get Paul for the boat wreck. Moselle is out in the boonies and vast land. You would have had to been there before and knew that Paul was going to be there and what time Alex was leaving to accomplish killing Paul.
The reason Maggie was there was she was meeting Alex to go see his dad, one last time, before he passed SO why did Alex leave and her not follow him and why did he never mentioned that she never showed up at the hospital?
