When Alex Murdaugh’s double-murder trial resumes Friday, some of his relatives will have to sit farther back in the South Carolina courtroom due to inappropriate contact and conduct, the Colleton County clerk of court said.
Alex Murdaugh's sister passed a book to the defense lawyer to give to Alex. When it was confiscated, it was found to be a John Grisham novel, “The Judge’s List”
quote:
State Judge Clifton Newman also was made aware of an obscene gesture Alex Murdaugh’s surviving son Buster Murdaugh made toward Mark Tinsley
quote:
The younger Murdaugh was admonished for the incident, Hill said. Lynn Murdaugh Goettee and Buster Murdaugh have been warned that any more violations will result in them being barred from the courtroom.

Here's a link to Grisham's website with a summary of the book the sister passed to her accused brother..
If I were the judge I would so unamused.

Maggie’s housekeeper just made some very interesting comments about going to the house the day after the murders. She points out how odd how she found some of the clothes. I have no doubt SLED and LE did a piss poor job searching the house. Also, they screwed up letting people in the house that night and the days after.

CNN reported that the courtroom laughed:
quote:
Palmetto State Bank CEO Jan Malinowski testified that Murdaugh’s accounts were frequently overdrawn by hundreds of thousands of dollars in 2021 and a former executive, convicted in federal court in November, would loan himself and Murdaugh money from client trust funds.
Malinowski’s dry testimony did have moments of levity. He testified Murdaugh’s account balance was overdrawn by more than $347,000 in August 2021.
Waters noted a fee on the statement. “How much is the overdraft charge?” the prosecutor asked.
“Five dollars,” Malinowski said as many in the courtroom laughed.

Can’t figure out the angle of Maggie’s pjs with new underwear on the floor and the housekeeper’s testimony that she never wore underwear with her pjs. So appears the clothing was placed there but why? The only thing I can think of is if to make it look like she was in for the night and quickly got dressed to go to the kennels. But not sure how that would jive with either narrative.

Murdaugh wanted the housekeeper to go to Moselle to straighten Maggie's room "the way she likes it". From that I'd say Alex wanted the underwear and pajamas in the doorway to be found.
And it makes very little logic. Also she washed his slacks but never saw his shows or blue shirt again.

The Housekeeper was also the source of AM's calling his wife and son to the hunting estate that afternoon. Further, the judge allowed her testimony that Maggie had cried because of the potential loss in lawsuits of 30millions dollars "that we don't have". Buster and his Father (AM) stayed the night of the murders and his parents' home (where his Mother was, his Father was in hospital) and that's where the housekeeper went and AM sent her back to Moselle to straighten the place the way Maggie liked it.

sounds like at least 1 juror has tested positive for COVID and another has symptoms consistent with COVID but hasn't tested positive yet
those 2 have been released from service in this trial
that's now 3 jurors of the 18 (12 main, 6 alternates) who have been excused

Before the jury came in this morning, the prosecution let the judge know that GM/OnStar figured out that they actually do have the data that they initially said they didn't.
The defense has been given the data and does not fault the prosecution for the late evidence.
Both the prosecution and defense said some of the data helps them in some way.
Sounds like there will be a GM rep called tomorrow to certify the data being put into evidence. Then, there will be someone else called to explain the data.

Interesting point that was made. Tinsley said AM had no life insurance but during the roadside mess, AM was trying to get Buster the 10 million life insurance.
I listened to a podcast interview of the Satterfield boys' attorney yesterday, and he said the roadside incident was nothing more than AM wanting it to look like people were trying to kill the whole family. It had nothing to do with him wanting to kill himself or leave Buster any money. Interesting perspective.

So the life insurance story was just a cover once the whole roadside thing went bad.
That makes much more sense that AM trying to suicide himself by proxy.

Rekieta & Branca were like (I'm paraphrasing) "if the new data from GM/OnStar was helpful to the prosecution... the defense would've been up in arms objecting to it being included... their demeanor about it seems to indicate the data seems more helpful to their story than the prosecution's"

So how did blood get on the steering wheel of the vehicle Alex Murdaugh was driving that night?
He’ll probably (through his attorneys) claim after he checked the bodies he got back into the vehicle for some reason and may have transferred it that way.
Very tough when the suspect is intelligent, legal trained and has had complete control of a crime scene of which he is very familiar.

Did they even identify whos blood it was?
Posted on 2/13/23 at 2:27 pm to SoonerK
so the prosecutor asked the analyst who found no blood on the shirt to write a memo to explain away the discrepancy of "no blood found on 74 samples taken from shirt" yet "high speed blood spatter found on shirt"

What’s weird is that Alex repeatedly denied being down at the kennels yet audio evidence showed he was lying and was in fact down there with Maggie and Paul just minutes before they were murdered.
