hope the judge allows the financial stuff. He stole millions, lied about it, and showed no remorse doing it. I think the jury needs to see that and not the picture Poot is trying to paint.
I really think he panicked thinking this would all go away because of poor Alec. I mean why shouldn't he have felt like that as his family didn't know what the word no was and they always had the ability to sweep things away. He screwed over way to many people this time.
Mallory Beach's family standing up to the Murdaughs was his downfall. They refused to let this go . Glad they didn't!

Cousin Eddie is on the state’s list. His current jail record or status shows something like “held for safe keeping”.

Following loosely. I can see the shooting the wife but not the son.
Well the son’s hearing regarding the deadly boating accident was set to begin the week after the murders. He was a liability.
But the bigger question for me is - how does the defense expect to convince the jury of an alternative explanation.
Who thinks the slain family members were just standing in the same spot around the kennels AFTER Alex left the property?
Because the wife was only there to follow Alex to the hospital to see his ailing father. But they don’t go to see the ailing father and Alex goes solo to visit his mother…
And the killer showed up immediately after Alex left?
The defense will have some issues portraying an alternative timeline of events…

or, if we juggle those words:
"Held to keep him safe"

The 1700 acre $4M hunting lodge property where murders occurred and the Edisto beach house had been placed solely in MM’s name. Apparently AM had been borrowing against beach house -without her knowledge- with help of Palmetto State Bank (law firm CFO’s brother-in-law banker again).
Speaking of MM, supposedly she sent a text to a friend saying AM was acting fishy. I am curious about that because of all the phone data that has been presented, that has not been mentioned. Also, supposedly she was talking to a divorce lawyer about a divorce. Haven’t seen or heard anything about that. Also, the rumor also has it that MM caught on to AM and their finances and was in the process of talking to a forensic accountant. If this is true and there is evidence, it would further fuel the motive.
quote:
There is some speculation that Paul may have been last minute collateral damage, as AM felt squeeze with law firm confronting him and his highly respected and influential father being end-of-life, with whatever financial reasons he might have had for killing MM that night. I did read there was a $4M inheritance from his daddy but would be in trust for AM and sons, but not completely sure if source.
AM was about to get nailed for the financial crimes and it was mentioned that he didn’t have much money because he blew it. Why would he kill PM? There was no life insurance on PM. However, PM was about to go to trial for the boat case within the next few weeks. That case was about to cost a lot of money. AM knew not only the trial was going to cost but civil suits was also coming from damages. His financial stuff would have been exposed more.

He never paid his life long friend, his best friend Mr. Wilson, back. Tied to a personal injury verdict from Mack Trucks for 5.5 million.

quote:
Attorney Chris Wilson, Alex Murdaugh and another lawyer worked on a personal injury case against Mack Trucks and won two verdicts totaling $5.5 million.
Alex asked Wilson, his best friend from high school and former roommate, to pay him his $792,000 cut directly instead of through his firm.
quote:
Waters asked Wilson about his perception of Alex's wealth.
“He made a lot more money than I do," Wilson said. "Always seemed to do well in his practice. All I ever heard was he was one of the biggest producers in the firm."
But Alex came back to Wilson and asked him to resend the money directly to his firm. He wired Wilson $600,000 and Wilson fronted him the additional $192,000.
Alex never repaid the money, and Wilson soon learned his best friend had been embezzling millions
LINK
quote:
Wilson was testifying at a hearing, outside of the earshot of the jury, to determine whether evidence of Alex Murdaugh's prior financial crimes can be introduced at his double murder trial to prove motive.
Alex never paid Wilson back. The last time he heard from him was in a text.
“Im so sorry for the havoc I created for you," Alex wrote. "I would do anything to make it right.”
quote:
Wilson got a call from Alex's law firm partner, Lee Cope, disclosing Murdaugh's decade-long theft of millions.
"That hit you like a thunderbolt," prosecutor Creighton Waters asked.
"It knocked me down," said Wilson, who appeared distressed. On Sept. 4, 2021, Wilson met Alex and confronted him.
"He broke down crying," Wilson testified. Alex then told him he had been addicted to opioids for more than 20 years and had been stealing the money to feed his habit.
"I was so mad. I had loved the guy for so long, and I probably still loved him a little bit, but I was so mad, and I don’t remember how it ended," said Wilson, who was stunned to learn his best friend was a drug addict. "How did I not know these things or see these things?”
A few hours later, Wilson got a phone call informing him that Alex had been shot in the head.

don’t know that they’ve provided enough evidence to show that he’s the one who shot them. He was there, for sure, and he’s tried to cover up a bunch of shite, but is there physical evidence that he killed them?
So murders where the killer had control of the scene before and after would practically never be convicted according to your standard. DNA evidence not relevant, got rid of murder weapons, got rid of clothes, Voila, free man.

Crazy that a stupid addiction to "opioids" (probably note the right word, but whatever) cost Alex so much money. He must have been getting ripped off big time.

I guess my main sort of hesitation with the motive is that they want me to believe he loved 1 son so much he was willing to hire a hitman to help him commit suicide so he could get the $10M insurance but then was so mad or hated the other one so much he literally blew his head off with a shotgun at close range. Keeping in mind the work he did for that dead son in the immediate aftermath of the boat accident at the hospital to get him out of trouble (also self serving I know).
It’s just so personal the upclose shot gun blast. And then he apparently had an AR on his person to take out the mom. Very tactical. I’m just having a hard time squaring that away.

Jury will rejoin the trial at 11:30 EST
The judge has called on the two sides to decide about how much of the financial mess will be allowed into this trial.
Link has financials being discussed

That was most likely just his excuse to his friend for why he stole. Most people aren't going to just come out and say they are greedy pieces of shite

Would love to follow the trial cause I know most of the backstory. But just don't have time. I'm sure they'll be a netflix doc I can watch later

I just followed the blog with the housekeeper's son's testimony and I got so mad at Alex Murdaugh.
You need to read parts of this, it will take your personal possible neutrality away.

I suspect ole "Big Red" Alex was into more illegal stuff than opioid and Paul may have had some inside info. If Paul was facing a lot of jail time he might have squeeled on Dad.

There’s one coming out Feb. 22

As the Truck injury money was being shuttled betweeen AM's long time friend and AM, a check for over 500 thousand dollars was written to Cousin Eddie.
Specifically for $507,000 dollars.
That's a lot of cousinly love.
