People that are into snakes are weird. There’s nothing cute or cuddly about any snake. Get around snake freaks and they talk baby talk to snakes like it’s a kitten or a puppy.

So once the pythons finish eradicating all small mammals, what will they eat? Could they eventually starve themselves to death?

That's sad.

They need to be wiped out.

mainly the ones who buy the snakes that get stupid large and they can no longer handle them.

there are plenty of species that top out around 4’ and can be easily managed in a tank.

but noooooo, these dumbasses go out and buy the ones that grow to 15’-20’ and are capable of killing all sorts of shite!

They should be banned. They have proven to be invasive and capable of destroying entire swaths of domestic wild life.

i’m not sure where the size cutoff should be, but definitely seems like there should be one.

i own a Ball Python.
they top out at 3-5 feet and aren’t capable of killing anything bigger than a medium-large rat.
the simply aren’t big/strong enough to take down anything bigger.

Yeah, size matters for that determination. Most of the ones overrunning Florida are Burmese pythons.

I wonder if extremely venomous snakes like the snakes in Australia and Africa will enter the Florida ecosystem? With the amount of YouTube breeders etc of these snakes you would think it would be like how the pythons entered the Everglades.

I was in key largo fishing a few weeks ago. Most of the time tucked in by the mangroves around islands. I was so ready to shoot one with the snake shot i brought, but another year without a sighting.

That’s frightening. They definitely need to try that Tylenol experiment.

Sad to say, but it will probably take a small child or domestic cats and dogs eaten, before something that might actually work is done to eradicate them.

Wouldn't that solve the python problem by itself? Nothing to eat, snakes die.

Their diet doesn't solely consist of small mamals.

It does cut down on their growth in a given area, but also causes them to expand their range.
