I hate this verbiage, it smacks of the assumption that adults are fundamentally immature and don't take their work seriously and only through years of "growing" are ready for their new job. What the frick does "grow" mean.

Tell me how you have continued to increase your competency or knowledge in your job by either learning from your own experiences or the experiences of others.

Tell me about a time you had a conflict with a coworker. How did you resolve it and what was the outcome?

How do you feel about LBGTQ issues and equality in the Workplaces?

You’re kidding, right?

Assuming you’re not, I’ll answer:

Not everyone is mature enough to learn from mistakes, experience, and other colleagues. Being able to give examples of this is a sign of someone who has: 1. Had this experiences and 2. Is smart/mature enough to bank those in their mental tool belt.

The behavior based interview process (while it really is difficult for a lot of interviewees) is a good way for interviewers to identify those candidates who have those abilities and can speak intelligently about their experiences.

Simple as that.

When asked why you would want to be an operator; tell them that you enjoy troubleshooting and maintaining equipment and areas that you’re responsible for. Tell them when you’re assigned an area, you enjoy taking complete ownership of the process, equipment, housekeeping and safety of your area of responsibility. You want to become an expert on the areas you’re responsible for and be seen as a go-to subject matter expert. The health and reliability of the process and even more so the equipment, depend on the proficiency of the operator and ability of operations’ autonomous maintenance.

Learn that for your interview and profit.

6 months later tell em to fk off that you were only kidding, and never really believed that shite anyways.

You do all that, and you’ll be a operator baw.

Not too many jobs out there that you can make a 90k+ base salary and 120k-150k depending on how much overtime you want on three years of experience. I’m in a situation where I can retire at 55 with over a million between 401k and pension. I put $5500 in a Roth IRA yearly also. I work an average of 52hrs a week and when I’m not in the plant I have zero responsibilities to anything work related.

I’m a maintenance planner and it’s about the same for me. Super flexible work schedule, good pay, and lots of opportunity to advance. 4-10’s. I would really like to come back to this position after I retire as part time. Low stress job as well.

Dress appropriate. Give a firm handshake. Look them in the eye when shaking their hand. Do not sit down until asked to do so. LEAVE CELL PHONE IN YOUR VEHICLE!!!

Bruh, that's really not a lot of money to retire early with.

I agree with the other parts of your post.

Don’t sound like you’ve rehearsed. Come across as genuine. I’ve been on interview teams and you could tell the ones who were coached or rehearsed. The answers were choreographed. You ask them to expand on it and they’d freeze.

Just curious, you seem pretty enthusiastic about behavioral based interviews. Are you a trained Human Resource Person, Industrial Psychologist, an Engineer or an Economist?

Behavioral based interviews are all fluff no pressure.

I prefer interviews where the interviewee has to show data and accomplishments.

Why not both?

I just went through an interview that had both elements. Probably one of the best interviews I’ve had. I was to answer behavior-based questions with real examples and I was also able to discuss projects and challenges I’ve deal with.

I’m not ‘enthusiastic’ about them at all. Like most everyone, I don’t particularly care to go through them. But when an interviewer prepares, it’s a really good format for the interviewers to sift through bullshite.

I’m an engineer.
