I recall being a party to a class action lawsuit against Ticketmaster years ago (anyone that bought tickets in a certain period) that had a settlement.
The "settlement" was a small credit on a future ticket that used the same corrupt pricing system with jacked up "convenience fees", etc.
I doubt anything will change after this one either.

That’s not really a good comparison. If a woman wants to buy a purse or handbag she isn’t basically forced to buy through LV, plenty of other options out there
Want to go to a major concert? Well you likely have to deal with them and clearly they’re not acting in good faith

I remember having tickets to a concert in August of COVID year. Concert didn’t get cancelled, it just got “delayed” three years. By that time we had moved to a new state.
They didn’t issue a refund. Said the concert wasn’t cancelled, just rescheduled, so go frick yourself.

Hmmm, anyone see an ad yet for the trial lawyers and the incoming class action lawsuit?

However much you hate Ticketmaster it isn’t enough.

They make more money and TM gets to be the boogeyma
If a Taylor Swift ticket with a face value of $350 sells 3 times on the secondary market with a 20% increase each turn, Taylor Swift doesn’t make a dime on anything other than the initial purchase (actually the promoter makes the biggest risk, except the promoter is LiveNation which is part of TM).
TM and/or StubHub make transaction flats as well as a percentage of each turn of that ticket.
Additionally if a scalper holds the ticket which doesn’t lead to an attendee, the artist also misses out on merchandise sales and concession participation.
Artists HATE TM but can’t untangle. Oh, that TM/LN are manage artists, so they’re super trapped.
Oh, and scalpers buying up the tickets in advance covers the underwriting exposure for the promoter. Again, the promoter being LiveNation which is part of Ticketmaster.

The settlement I received from them once was "free tickets" to some shows. Theoretically, I should have been able to go to about 1/2 dozen shows for free. But no, all of the bands were bands I had zero interest in seeing and none of the shows were anywhere near me. I redeemed none of the vouchers.

It's getting harder and harder to defend big business, especially now that they are mixing with government.

A ONE THOUSAND PERCENT markup on Louis Vitton purses? Really? And, "people don't say" its gouging? Remarkable.
