Cobb County GA was created by a federal land grant that stole land from the Cherokee at the dividing line between Cherokee and Creek nations in order to separate them. Once divided by pioneer settlers, the real land grab began, leading to the Trail of Tears.

According to WSJ in the late 1970's Lafayette, LA had more people making over $100k (per capita) than any other city in the US.

Terrace Park, OH was the winter home for the John Robinson Circus. Tillie the elephant often walked the city streets in the 1920's and 30's.

And they disassembled that fricker, moved it 3 miles up the road, and it’s an art museum now.

The pioneering video game Doom was created in Shreveport.
Now I know why it was made to be such a violent game. To let out the frustration of living in Shreveport.

Boron, California (lived there while stationed at Edwards AFB) is home to the U.S. Borax Boron Mine, the state’s largest open-pit mine, which is also the largest borax mine in the world.

Delaware County, NY was home to the nation’s first milk pasteurization facility. It was the nation’s #1 dairy producing county in the early 20th century.

While home to the headwaters of the Delaware River which drains into Delaware Bay, waters from Delaware County also drain into New York Bay via Schoharie Creek/Mohawk River/Hudson River and into Chesapeake Bay via the Susquehanna River.
