With the way it turned out, I started looking into it more. The disturbing thing to me is EBRP School District will have $840 million for the coming year with about 42,000 students. That's $20,000 per student. Central and Zachary do it for $14,000 to $15,000. What's EBRP's excuse?
They have something like 80 schools they are over. Nevermind that 20+ of them operate with less than 300 students.
Also, as much as people threw up a fight against STG school district & the money EBR would lose, nobody brought up that 28% of the EBRPSS budget is now being transferred to Charter schools.

Many people have so little faith in the school system that they homeschool their kids. I spent 10 years as a high school history teacher and left because I got tired of living paycheck to paycheck. The majority of the increased staff positions are support staff to handle the federally mandated programs for IEP students, including ESL students. So it’s not like teachers are so abundant that schools are creating positions for them. Covid put a bad taste in parents’ mouths and they saw that a quality education could be had at home. Homeschooling will continue to increase as the programs get better and schools get worse.
