Not just any gun - airsoft guns.

quote:

On Thursday, school officials at Edgewood Middle School in Trenton suspended the 13-year-old student after discovering he liked a picture of a gun online.

"My wife called and said he'd been pulled in to the office, and he was being suspended because he liked a picture on Instagram that his friend posted .. of a weapon, of an airsoft gun," Marty Bowlin said about his son, Zach. "It was 10 days suspension with the possibility of expulsion. I'm like, 'For liking a gun? Did he make a comment or threat or anything?' And it's like, 'No. He just liked a picture.' I'm like, 'Well, this can't happen.'"

Bowlin said his son's decision to like the photo of the gun, which included the caption "ready," was harmless.

"I mean, I figured he'd cleaned his gun and was ready, wanting to play and stuff," Zach Bowlin said.

Zach says the photo shows an airsoft gun that shoots pellets.

quote:

An assistant principal wrote Bowlin was suspended for "Liking a post on social media that indicated potential school violence."

quote:

"He shoots, hunts, fishes," Marty Bowlin said. "He's a country boy."

Kid who 'liked' the photo got his suspension revoked. The kid who posted the pic is still in hot water.

Sue then for everything. That is absurd. The idiots running those schools have zero common sense. ZERO!

The bullshite part of all of this is it had nothing to do with school nor extracurricular school stuff. Had the kids had the gun on school grounds I could get on board but this had nothing to do with school at all.

Hunting with a pellet pistol? While I think it's an overreaction by the school district and their arse needs to be sued, the parent claiming he was possibly "ready" to go hunting is full of shite.

Still not as absurd as the kid who got in trouble for pretending that a chicken nugget was a gun.

Read the article, Jimmy.

Kid was ready to play airsoft. They shoot tiny plastic looking pellets/BBs.

Whole situation sounds trashy. Glad the school isn't taking any chances.

Someone probably reported the kid who posted the picture thinking it would be about a school shooting or something and the school jumped on it like a legitimate threat. Now that it's all cleared up, nothing should come of it.
