I had the surgery on a Friday and was at work pointing a finger Monday bare naked under a onesie. I never realized how much you use your stomach muscles.

I haven’t even been to see a doctor yet as I’ve just noticed this in the last few days. I plan on making an appointment sometime in the next couple of weeks

Wasn’t bad. Except for the ball swelling and my 8 yr old thinking it would be a good idea to punch me in the balls. Was on floor in tears for 10 minutes. He ran out of the house and didn’t come back until I was in drug induced sleep. Aside from that, not bad.

When I had mine done. They did a 2 inch incision on my waste band and used mesh to fix it back. 1st and 2nd day wasn’t so bad the 3rd day was the worst. Could not sit up on my own and trying to Pooh was bad! Apparently my doc did it the old school way. He was also a terrible dr. Horrible bedside manner. Hope yours will be better than mine.

Had it done about 4 years ago.

Find a Dr who has done it many times.

I had a Dr Marx up in Monroe do mine. He was excellent and recommend him to anyone who needs a hernia surgery.

Was in & out the same day, procedure took just a few hours.

You will need someone to drive you home though.

I was up walking the next day. Took about a week off though.

No lifting of objects over 10lbs and strenuous work for about 2-3 weeks.

The days of heavy lifting & intense workouts are over though.

Father time catches up with us all.

They'll tell you to take easy. You'll get limits on how much you can lift. Comply with your surgeons instructions.

Got mine done in November. I had my hernia for 12 years. Surgery was easy. Had mesh placed. Was feeling fine after a week. Was out of work for 2 days. Just moving very slow. Out of the gym lifting for 8 weeks. Back jogging on the treadmill after 2.5 weeks.

I failed the cough test and had the surgery done at Ochsner in 1995. Three to four inch incision on my lower abdomen and the recovery was painful. I would hope and expect there have been advances in the procedure since then.

Most recoveries are easy. My FIL had one at age 71 and was messed up for a few weeks though.

Minor outpatient procedure now. Ten years ago my son at age 12 was in and out without effects in one day.

I however underwent an open procedure in 1980 which left me with a six inch scar and in-patient for 4 nights.

I had one over 10 years ago and it wasn’t bad. Issue I still have is occasionally I have have bad pain in the same area. Feels like another hernia. Apparently it is scar tissue. Randomly pops up for a day or so.

Had a mesh repair about 10 years ago. It wasn’t too bad. Procedure was done in the morning and I was home around noon. It took me a few days to really straighten myself up. It was a little painful when pain meds wore off, but nothing crazy.
