I recently obtaind a new iPhone. I followed the instructions from my carrier, deleted the eSIM and then wiped my old phone. My new iPhone is activated, and had all my apps download from the Cloud.

Eveything works, except Google (Google Voice, YouTube, GMail, etc.). I'm stuck in an infinite loop. Google is prompting me to login to YouTube to receive a number code to verify my identiy. I would, if I could get into YouTube. I know my password, and Google accepts it.

Another example. I am trying to sign back into YouTube. Again, I know my username and password. I entered my information into YouTube, in the YouTube app. I am then prompted to verify it's me, by opening up the YouTube app on my iPhone. I do, but I can't retrieve the verificaton code, because I can't sign in. I click on "Try Another Way." And tap YES for phone or tablet, and I am prompted again to open the YouTube app on my iPhone. The cycle keeps repeating.

I tried also opening the YouTube app on my iPad (since I am still signed in) to see if I can receive the verificaiton code, and nothing pops up on the screen. I even tried to see if I could get the code from my YouTube app on my television, and again, I can't retrieve it.

I then click on "Can't Use Phone" and I receive this message, "You're trying to sign in on a device Google doesn't recognize. No shite. For your security, use your phone to show it's you signing in and not a hacker."

Certainly, there has to be a work around. Note, I also have 2FA turned off in my Google security settings.

Can you change your phone to a spouses phone to authenticate? I went around with this and Google trying to use an iPhone for a replacement when my pixel died. Ended up just rolling with no phone for a day or 2 till new one showed up. Such a pita.

I did precisely this three times today.

fricking tech is too technical. They blame all their stupidity on security. Vaguely TSA/Commercial Airlines-ish

I've been stuck in a similar loop and realized that one prompt like that is supposed to be your phone login, and the other prompt is the code that sent you. You have to do phone login first, then code at the second prompt.

Something like that.

Have you tried putting your phone in a bag of rice?

Log into your Google account on a PC and turn off 2-Factor Authentication.

Once you're back in you can turn it on again.

2FA is off. I can access Gmail, Google Voice, YouTube, and YouTube TV all from my computer's web browser without any issue.

It's my new iPhone that can't access any of the above, due to the verification needed inside YouTube, which I can't log into from my new phone.

No spouse. And I'll take this major annoyance that I am dealing with right now (Google), over the major annoyance I used to have.

I do have a spare Android phone. Would that help my issue?

I am not able to login into my Google account on my phone first, because I can't retrieve the code that Google wants to send to the YouTube app (again, because I can't sign into YouTube either).

Delete and reinstall the google apps. Then, try again.

I had issues going from an iphone 7 to whatever the next newest one is (16?).

One I deleted and reinstalled, it worked.

Yes, both on my new phone and computer. Should I disable it?

I'll give this a try.

It’s possible that you have another device with YouTube that it’s sending the verification to. Like an iPad or another iPhone. Try checking those when it asks you to verify.

I’ve had issues when mine is enabled. Disabling it has solved a lot of login problems then just turn it back on after.

My dumbass was trying to stream the LSU game from a hotel last night and couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working. I had inadvertently set my VPN to Doha, Qatar somehow.

It’s really fun to try to get online at a Marriott; they send the login code to your email.

I got it figured out. Only because I had a spare Android phone. I powered it on, and it had my Google account information already saved. I opened up YouTube on the Android phone, and clicked on the number that corresponded with my new iPhone. And it worked.

What a PITA though. I would still be fighting this (most likely) if I didn’t have a spare phone.
