Nowadays the girls start before high school. As a result of better nutrition, the average age has continuously fallen.
Mine was ten at school, but she had been told what to expect. The medical profession now defines early onset as age 8.

6th grade - age 11-12 - seems to be the going rate around my area. But I know several that started at 10. Both of my kids 10 year old pediatrician visit was when the doctor said to start being ready for it.

Few weekends ago when I had my kids, my oldest was caught in this spot. She's still learning her cycle and it's still not clockwork. She was very embarrassed to come to me, her father. We went to the drug store, bought what was needed, and now keep a supply at my house, as well as a few in my glove box. It is what it is.

You are a grown man and her father not a teenage boy being used by a mom for social media attention.

Regardless You probably should have had a talk with your daughter before and already had supplies.

I think that is a question you should be asking yourself if you believe the first thing you wrote.

I'm nearly 50 and every girl I've had a serious relationship with, including my wife of nearly 20 years, has been caught unprepared. Sometimes periods arrive early. Sometimes they arrive late. Sometimes they skip a month. Sometimes they arrive at inopportune times.

Perhaps I've just ended up with weirdos or something though.

Oh for fricks sake.

How about the girls just carry their fricking tampons.

They are trying to be all feminist but really it's, hey I know how incapable you females are so here I am, a male, to your rescue.

I would guess just about every girl has started her period unprepared, especially at the high school age when they're still learning about their bodies.

And if they did, the last thing they are going to want to do is ask a boy if they have a tampon. I'm 1000% certain it would be better for everyone that an older female, like a teacher or school nurse, be the go-to person in these types of situations. Boys don't have periods, so they aren't even a good source of experience or advice.

but doubt these guys are going to have many girls coming to them asking for feminine hygiene products.

No shite.

Look, I get what you're suggesting. We need to destigmatize the menstrual process. Because it's natural.

Here's the problem. Shitting is natural too. But I'd never in a million fricking years ever approach a female and say "Hey, I didn't wipe very well, and now I've got a bad case of swamp-arse. Do you have a wet wipe I can use to clean up?"

How are you caught unprepared? Put one in your fricking purse like a sane person.

Except every bathroom supplies toilet paper to wipe your arse with. Seems the better solution is for places to just stock female restrooms with these products.

This isn't this, this is some self entitled mom that thinks she's changing the world by having her sons carry around fricking tampons.

While this is weird, the intention to “de-stigmatize” gender doesn’t bother me nearly as much as brainwashing kids into thinking biological gender doesn’t exist or is an active choice.

Periods don't bother me and I didn't need to carry tampons around with me.

The much better option here is to teach your daughter to keep an extra on her instead of teaching your son to.

What fricking clown world is this?

I was a FB friend with two moms who proudly posted fully nude photos of their daughters (albeit not explicit). I wondered if those girls caught any flashback from classmates who stumbled onto that.

I’m confused, wouldn’t that be illegal to post nude pictures of underage girls?
