Axl & Izzy got the hell out of there & moved to L.A. & started Guns N Roses.

Watch Parks & Recreation. Apparently Ron Swanson loves it there.

It's the worst. I've never lived there but have been there for a long period at one point and it sucks.

One of my best friends from high school got a job with the railroad out of college and the first place he got sent to was Indiana. Kinda lost touch with him until he got sent to Atlanta. First time I talked to him in years I asked how Indiana was. His response was: "Awful."

All I got.

French Livk was a cool little town. They had some weird older resort hotel there. I only went there twice but I had a side piece in French Lick for a few months.

shite looking back, I had a girl in French Lick, a girl in Vincennes, a girl in Jasper and one out by Princeton. Those were some crazy days when I was younger.

It's sometimes known as the "middle finger of the South."

Southern Indiana is very similar to southern/SE Ohio/Eastern KY topography wise.

Not really. Southern Indiana, once you get passed the Knobs around New Albany/Jeffersonville gets very flat. And visually boring.

You also hit several Amish communities south of Indy.

Most of the Amish in southern Indiana are around Loogootee in Daviess County. I had to re fruit a high school called Barr Reeve or some shite like that. I laughed and said wtf no Amish kid is going to join the Army.

But just a county over--Pike County, we put a lot of guys in the Army from there.

Looking back, those were the worst 3 years of my life. Living in nowhere southern Indiana, not knowing a soul, trying to convince white trash meth heads to join the Army. What a shitshow.

I just wanted to be back on my Abrams tank destroying shite.

Mishawaka is a-ok with me, but the roads and road management are crap compared to Huntsville. The amount of salt is awful .
But as one that visits Lowe’s and Home Depot every day, they have the friendliest and most helpful stores I’ve ever seen. Kudos to them.

Grew up in rural south and anyone saying Indiana is full of rednecks, white trash, methhead or nothing but fields is throwing rocks from their glass houses. Has some nice areas. Has some shitty areas. Like most places. Hamilton County just north of Indy is a little slice of heaven. Winters suck. Summers are great. Good place to raise kids. Probably won’t stay once I retire. Will head to Arizona. Did I say winters suck?

Cracks me up reading posts from people that live in high crime shitholes in Mississippi ragging on small towns in Indiana where people don't even lock their doors because there is no crime.
Living in small farm towns in the Midwest is like living in the 1950's.

Slice of life in Indiana

By the way, apropos of nothing, really, the Frankfort High School athletic teams are called the 'Hot Dogs'.
