Nice part about this is that this is kinda like how poisoned frogs are brightly colored so you know they're dangerous.
Loudmouths who do this are the same thing except you know not to hire them. What a great way to ruin your career in a few easy steps.

Walmart tire repair does not pay that well.

Challenging authority is actually encouraged in tech. This won’t hurt his career at all

Being innovative and bringing new ideas to the table is usually encouraged. Challenging authority publicly will get you fired in almost any industry.

I'm fairly certain none of that is actually coming from Musk.
The concepts he quotes around the number of calls aren’t exactly rocket science. I’m sure the guy running the rocket science company can understand them.

When people say technical debt, I just tune them out.
I manage a large department of developers. I specifically say I never want to hear technical debt. And it’s a serious conversation if they say it to a customer.

Tell me you’ve never worked in tech without saying so.
To be clear, I can’t stand the entitlement in tech. These people have no grasp on the real world but I’m telling you challenging authority is accepted and encouraged.

Son, you were probably in diapers when I started my career in tech.
I've always been about questioning the most dangerous phrase in business: We've always done it this way. The difference between you and I is the wisdom knowing you don't challenge your boss on a public platform. Time and place my friend, time and place.

Again, I personally would never in a million years do anything like that. It’s the way I was raised to be respectful. However, I’ve seen this behavior applauded and rewarded.

The guy is wrong to go head to head with Musk publicly.
I'm at a large corporation. I've been here 3 months and identified gaps in processes, systems, etc.
Nobody has asked me to fix them though. I met with Business Development last week and offered assistance any way I could to make things easier for them. They didn't really care.
Now you ask me the same question...what have I done to fix it...well nothing because I have no power or sphere of influence currently. Haven't had much opportunity.
I don't think it's a fair question all the time. Much of surviving in a large corp is just knowing your role/lane and staying in it. Six years though should present some opportunity but still I could see where you're limited.

I have been managing Tech people for 30 years, There are right ways and wrong ways for a tech to challenge authority. Challenging authority in the wrong way will get you fired quickly as this gentleman found out.

Without reading this thread, I bet I can summarize:
Some people will say Elon is petty or a douche. Most of these people assume: Elon is wrong and the 6-yr twitter employee is truthful and/or correct.
Other people won’t care who is truly correct and will support Elon regardless.
My worthless take: dude wanted to get fired.
Technically: they both are probably “correct” from a technical standpoint. The app probably has only 30 backend calls (or Remote Procedure Calls). However, a would wager many of those calls actually invoke many other RPCs. The number can increase geometrically, especially in a fast-paced, lazy-programmer, lazier-management IT environment.

Gotta love all the random TD posters claiming that the most successful business man on the planet doesn’t know frick all about business.
As of about a year ago most people thought he was only successful because of government subsidy.

I strive to be like Elon at work or at least pretend Elon is my boss. That man motivates me to be an elite employee. Always innovating and never siting still.

You sound poor and entitled. How much government assistance to you get a month?

I have no idea what this means and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I'm not a tech and never will be. What in the dickens is "technical debt" and why is it taboo to mention it in the tech world?

Why do you demonize someone who’s more successful than you? That’s what’s wrong with this fricking country.
