If you stay off social media and don’t watch the news nothing is going on.

I live in the Treme in New Orleans. In the afternoons I jog a mile or so to the local pull up bars and do my thing and jog back. I’m a white guy and definitely a minority where I live. I jog past at least a dozen black folks or more during my trek every day. Everyone greets me and is really nice.

I’m not seeing it here. I think there is a vocal minority that is here and the rest are from elsewhere. Normal folks act like normal folks and are largely unaffected.

No. Social media allows the loud mouths on all side a platform to spew their ideology. I feel the majority of people are good nature and just want to live their life and be happy. I feel like we need more constraints around what and how the media/social media can present their product.

The media used to make money by charging people for subscriptions and content. Then the internet happened and news became free. They have had to change their business model to attract as many eyeballs and clicks as possible 24/7 in order to garner enough ad revenue to survive. They do this by sensationalizing everything and exploiting human confirmation bias and negativity bias. Take a look at how almost no current event is ever reported as "mundane" or simply "notable." Everything is a "breaking" emergency.

I highly recommend the article linked below by Mark Manson. He argues very convincingly that you actually become more informed by completely cutting out almost all news consumption.

Mark Manson - Why You Should Quit the News

Most people aren't going to let a bunch of 18-25 year olds make decisions for society. They have no money, no assets, no property, no kids, aren't saving for retirement...they have nothing. Their pent up resentment and anger is just a complete waste of mental energy. As soon as they make headway with any one of the things I listed, they will switch gears.

Yep I agree. Everyone is over the Rona. I have normal conversations with black people when going about my business.
It’s pretty wild.... you just treat everybody like you expect to be treated and the world continues to go round. The Media is a travesty.

No. Me and my wife walk by the lakefront every evening. There are Hispanics, Indians, muslims, blacks, etc out there constantly. Everyone is friendly and everyone says hello. It's just people going on about their lives.

My neighbors are young flaming liberals. They have seen my flags I rotate including a Trump flag. We all still get along and even eat dinner together like adults with differing political ideals can. Same with my friends in California.

It's just a small group of insane spoiled individuals and some people on the lower rung of the IQ scale being used by that group. They are all being controlled by a larger special interest group.

Don't believe the media telling you it's the majority that feel that way. CNN'S ratings are lower than many shows on YouTube because the majority knows it's all bullshite and are tired of it.

You're not just in a bubble, you're in The Rant "echo chamber" where all of your biases, perceptions and points of view are validated every day by like minded people.

Do you really think this is about casual interactions and associations at work or in public spaces with people of color?

COVID is not dead, it's just being ignored. Cases are rising in many areas. People are still dying and will continue to die. I assume you read about the 16 friends who went to a pub and all contracted COVID. Fortunately they were mostly asymptomatic or had mild infections but who knows how many others were exposed to them and will contract the virus with symptoms.

The reports on TigerDroppings about the apocalypse and race war are greatly exaggerated.

Yes but it's been that way for years. Mainly native issues. They really hate white people. Hell, they hate black people too.

There is most definitely a division. There are Americans with the vision and wisdom to avoid Facebook and there are Americans who are still addicted to it. Obnoxious 'tards on social media is not a Black American Problem or a White American Problem; it's a problem threatening the entire United States. We're still giving the retards too much voice and attention.

The girl who checked me out out Lowe's the other day was biracial. She broached the subject about folks being crazy, and said that she has been working overtime to avoid the news and social media. She said she is, "Tired of all that mess."

Yea. You kinda live in a bubble when your day to day dealings is around those of similar economic, if not socioeconomic stratas.

Economic division is as great as it has ever really been, especially in regards to adequate healthcare.

Racially? You’d be blind to think there wasn’t. Is it worse? Likely not. It’s just that the increased tech of video sharing, photo sharing, and social media is spotlighting what used to be hidden to the normal person.
