My recliner has given up the ghost. Well, to be more apt, my secondhand recliner gave up the ghost years ago, and I managed to give it additional life through a combination of necromancy, power tools and...leaning it up against the closet wall. But I doubt any amount of stitchery, Witchery, itchery, bitchery or butchery will save her now.

Mostly the latter. But I'm afraid. It's dead. Just broken in all the wrong ways. (And all the right ones) too. So, it's time to put the the old girl out to pasture, I'm sure...I think.

See, the chair, I love. I've rocked kids in that chair. I've laughed in that chair, hell, I've CRIED in that chair, and not just when LSU won in 2019. That's where I was. I've made memories in that chair. It's big and wide and comfortable. It's the sort of chair I like.

I don't need all the bells and whistles, just a good solid chair. I stormed out the house Bound and determined, on a quest to find a new one but I almost turned away when I saw the price tags.

I worked in furniture...damn it's almost 20 years ago and. I know how much the markups were then. I tried to work my magic but...no avail. No slightly damaged models for sale. But I also haven't bought a chair in...well, ever.

I'm at the store now. Sat in a few but the price puts me off. I Ike my old chair and not willing to pay what I have in my old chair for a new chair.

How much for chair repair? Professional like. Is it worth it?

I asked myself Where could I get Honest answers, from people who are aren't Trying to sell to me? Who would tell me the cold, hard truth.

And then I thought about the OT

So, I decided to ask the most disreputable, cantankerous, hard-hittin, hard-bitten, shoot-shittin bunch of bastards I know.

I don't mind second hand or gently used, or a repaired, and I'm paying cash.

A wise soul on here shared with me...walk fast, drive slow, pay cash or don't go.

The amount I want to spend is around 500 but I'm sure I'm dreaming there.

So, point me in the right direction. Please. Pics to come later

Pics of old chair

This is the one I’m going to buy when I get my new furniture. It’s powered and $2,000 but if I’m going to sit in it everyday I’d spend some money on it to get what you want.

Now that you've crossed the threshold, you will need to find your mentor recliner guide, who will then lead you througn your road of trials en route to the elixir that is your new recliner.

Don’t have an individual recliner but we enjoy our sofa/love seat set we got from La-Z-Boy with recliners on both. Super comfortable. My parents have had their La-Z-Boy set for almost 20 year and even though it’s just Dad now it’s still held up really well.

I once knew a girl who got railed on a recliner. She took a sharpie and colored in the cum stain. Sorry, that's all I've got

Now this is the quality that I come to the OT for.

Where's Antiquetiger when you need him? I've got a jar of change I'll trade him.

I don't know about the chair, but I do know you're a few hours and one bad decision from getting bed bugs. Lice, too, maybe.

Good point. My parents have an older one. Probably not what I want but if it's serviceable, maybe I can throw a cover over it

Recliners are really trashy.

Get something like this classic le Corbusier instead

Here's how I've styled it in my living room

That thing looks like the table you probably had your last pap smear done on.

I had my first rocker/recliner Lazy Boy for 38 years. My son now has it and I got another non rocker lazy boy. Yes they are expensive but well worth it.

I've definitely shagged a handful of OT 7's on that thing in the ten years I've owned it, mate

You may have been able to bag OT9s if it wasn't a fake LC4.
