They were able to recover in a decent amount of time in the past. I think this will have lasting effects for a generation.

You care about generations when literally a dozen 95 year olds have died
You millennials are so selfish

the great depression lasted 43 months. No way this is going to be worse. I agree with the president once this crisis passes the stock market will skyrocket.

Finically the recovery of lost income and the welfare state it will cause will outlast the virus.

Depends on how long these shutdowns last.

If we enter a depression we are screwed for a long time.
What got us out of the Great Depression (so far the Great Depression this one could be worse) was World War II. We don't have the stones for that type of war effort anymore.

our country now and our country in the 1930s are two completely different things. We were coming off one of the strongest economies ever. We may face a recession for some time but no way we dip into a depression.

Last Great Depression caused a war that killed 100 million. Doctors are not good at seeing the big picture.

another note from 1929 to 1932 the GDP dropped 15%. I can't imagine what would happen to this country and the world if our GDP dropped like this again.

Times Three of that in reality for a large segment of the US population.

This.
Market will make a major comeback starting in just a few months. A lot of people will become very rich because they had the funds to invest in it right now.
