That whole area in Shreveport used to be cotton fields intersected by waterways.

And stayed that way pretty much up until the 80's. It was a great area to grow up in with only a hand full of subdivions in the cotton fields.

Went back up there for an event in late May that took place Downtown. The smell of weed was everywhere.

He was arrested for trespass

$350 says they just drove him down the road and dropped him off.

What should they do, spend thousands of dollars housing him and feeding him and providing him with health care? If so it'd be cheaper to offer that up front in lieu of arresting him or having him fricking around with folks trying to shop at Lowes.

I guess the cops could just shoot him...but that is gonna cause a heap of trouble as well.

The City Council has turned downtown Shreveport into a war zone.
Friends of councilwomen Taylor have bars downtown, and she is trying to put them beyond the reach of the law.

Not true. Airline Dr is unrecognizable today. When I visit I feel like I'm in Shreveport's bottoms. That entire area has gone way down.

Once the new noise ordinance is signed into law, her friends will get their liquor licenses pulled. Nothing stops these clubs faster than getting hit with a few fines.

Shreveport was doing well in 2008 or so with Haynesville Shale and it’s related industries but that seemed to have not lasted a long time.

Yep - we were in Olympia, WA this summer, passed a Home Depot and along both sides of the parking lot was just 1 big tent city !

Been along time since I lived or even visited Shreveport.

I had a child that was consistently in the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital for a few years.

In 1997, I bought my ex wife a house in the Broadmoor area for my son and her.

Shreveport, had its bad area back in the 1990’s, I guess not as bad as today.

Jail is free for the jailed...yet an awful lot of people like the idea of tossing people in. Jail is also a classic example of socialism...and an awful lot of people like the idea of jails...but I am the one who loves free shite and socialism because I ask if locking up the homeless is a better idea than attempting to serve their needs prior to the committing a crime and fricking with folks?

Taylor is trying to “grandfather” her friends’ bar under the ordinance, so they never miss a beat. And guess who is willing to vote with her?
